  1. Yea went fishing for them for first time last October. Caught `1 in total and my mate caught another that he "lost" while we were at the shops. We were fishing on the rocks.
  2. Anyone know when the makeral start to return to coastal waters? Im in Scotland will be fishing for them at Millport, need some good fresh Pike bait.
  3. never actually went fishing there, but most of the beach watersport stalls had fishing options there, also could try asking for brochure by hol rep.
  4. Canada for question 2. But not sure about the others.
  5. Chem A lvl student... There is a theory that if more ice melts, the water level will rise, and therefore can stall the Gulf Stream which warms Britain. So here in Scotland we would get 9 months of snow a year. There is also huge amounts of methane at the bottom of the ocean, but because it is so cold, it is not able to escape, now if temperatures rose by just a couple degrees the amount of methane would be greater than the amount of "farts" by all people in history of mankind. But this is thought maybe to occur in 2200, so we will all be dead thankfully. -- Now how often do you hear someone say that ?
  6. Going pike fishing tomorrow, Saturday at a local stillwater, seeing as I dont know much about pike fishing, I was wondering if the conditions: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=1946 offer themselves to lure fishing at all or is it too cold? We will be using makeral deadbaits also.
  7. Our house was robbed last year too, only we were all in it! Most of the family was in the living room and upstairs, the guy just opened the backdoor and came in, stole handbag and mobile. We called the police and they came round, distinguished when it musted hav happened, round 10.30pm. They then had a look in a driveway beside us and found the handbag. Needless to say from then on we took all precautions. But the guy came back about 2 weeks later, he didnt get in but we found, a pen knife and "joint" just outside the backdoor and was evident someone had been in garden.
  8. I am 16, in Scotland we call chavs, neds, and here I dont get much agro atall really because at the moment, there are probably more "neds" fishing than the rest of the young population.
  9. Just started pike fishing, catching small pike, using a very light rod, but would like to go for bigger Could anyone recommend a good quality rod, not too pricey hopefully? Thanks, Gareth
  10. Seeing as the river I fish on only permits grayling fishing only during winter looks like alot of maggot filled frosty mornings I am interested, what are your tactics for winter grayling?

    Weird 2

red hammer weird, read it out to 2 other members of my family, didnt work but got someone else to read it, worked. Must be something to do with, hammer being the most obvious tool and hamme"r" then "r"ed. Anyone else got any ideas?
  12. The Da Vinci Code - very good book
  13. Well, the river I fish is the river gryffe. Swift slowing river, coloured. Just wanted to know the best areas to cast to for grayling fishing
  14. I have recently joined a angling club in my hometown, and although the season is almost over, grayling season has started, and salmon fishing continues to 31st. So could people give me tips on. 1. Where do grayling usually lurk, what baits lures I should use etc. 2. Same for salmon please. ( Tournament soon, so I will be able to get tips from those guys) Thanks
  15. BRILLIANT m8, I laughed for ages.
  16. What books would you recommend reading to help a fellow angler have some more success. Course fishing books only please
  17. Oh, I knew there were Grayling, Salmon and Trout but never knew there were Perch etc. Thats a bit of a boost, so far I havent quite know what I should be doing as it seeemed, it was only trout in the Cart - and most websites only seem to give advice on fly fishing for trout, no other techniques, maybe I should look harder. When you say the White Cart meets with the Gryffe, I think you mean the Black Cart. The Black Cart meets the Gryffe near Inchinnan Industial Estate, and the Black Cart meets with the White just past the swing bridge at Renfew, couple hunderd yards from where I live Do you have msn mate, so we can talk in a little bit more detail. Its is very encouraging to know that there is an experienced angler I can talk to about local rivers.
  18. Renfrew, been told that Gryffe is good to fish - Bridge of Weir area. But thats a bit away from me, tried the local river - White cart, this morning but its jus full of trolleys, very dirty
  19. First post, lo evryone I am relatively new to river and loch fishing, I mostly sea fishing at the coast catching makerel, I have started fishing in local rivers, but to no avail. Could anyone in Strathclyde/Renfrewshire area in Scotland suggest any rivers or lochs, for course or game fishing? [ 27. September 2004, 09:36 AM: Message edited by: gareths ]
