  22. Ziggy got wet? We set off to west Bay around 11am, but befor that when I went off to attach the main motor to the boat, Its stored on a farm, the gate to where the boat is parked was blocked by an old sherpa type van. The Lady of the house came out and said I told him he needed to shift the van you would need to get through he's not at home. On her saying this her husband comes out of the their abode and states in a loud angry voice I'm not at home then so who's wellies are these. Jeff then proceeded to explain why the van is parked in the gateway to get to the point, flat battery and a gallon of rough cider the night before, and you could smell it. He jumps in the van and I push him a good 100yds down a track to one side, so the story begins. Arriving at west bay, and to inform you all Ziggy and I have very little experience in launching boats, I paid the launching fee Ziggy spotted a guy who has experience in launching a calls him over, he replies this will be a good learning experience. I looked at the slipway and thought oh sh--. Reversed down the slipway into the water boat started to float in the water loosened the winch,Ziggy holding rope tied to front of boat,we got the boat off the trailer I attempt to get to the floating jetty and get hold of the rope to tie if off, when I get there the boat is laid sideways on the slipway and Ziggy is looking very worried, now the crowd is forming. Harbour Master comes down to give a hand and says are you trying to do this yourselves Ziggy and I look at each other. Boat is on the water with me in it, Crowd is getting bigger. Stert the motor put it in reverse put put, I look at the throttle cable it has a split in it that I had not noticed so I push the throttle by hand bearing in mind steering and controls are at the front brooom the engine goes I step back to the controls and put it into neutral. I eventually get to the side Ziggy jumps in and we tie off to the jetty and decide to put the boat back onto the trailer. To cut a very long story short, Crowd is very big by now, after trying to get the boat onto the traler sideways we got it out of the water me wet from the chest down and Ziggy nearly as bad. At the top of the slipway Ziggy took out the drain plugs and the whole of west bay was flooded. We took the boat back to the farm and went shore fishing lots of fish caught. Still positive on getting the boat out when I get a new throttle cable.........
