  6. 5. Weight The fish must be weighed on land using scales or steel yards, which can be tested on behalf of the Committee. Where possible commercial or trade scales which are checked regularly by the Weights and Measures Department should be used. The sensitivity of the scales should be appropriate to the size of the fish, i.e. small fish should be weighed on finely graduated scales and the weight claimed for the fish should be to a division of weight (ounce, dram, gramme) not less than the smallest division shown on the scales. A Weights and Measures Certificate must be produced certifying the accuracy of the scales used and indicating testing at the claimed weight. In the case of species weighing less than one pound the claimed weight must be submitted in grammes. The weight must be verified by two independent witnesses or one and a sworn affidavit who, for example, should not be relations of the claimant. Above taken from BRFC procedures for claiming a record weight. When I was a club match secretary I tested four sets of R/H scales and two sets of digital scales. I found a variance of 2oz between them and tried not to use the set which gave the heavier reading. 2oz in a rock hard winter league match could make a difference between winning a section (section all weighed on same scales) or framing in top three.
  7. I have a Vaillant Ecotec with weather compensating controls and would recommend - I went for a Vaillant for a few reasons: after reading Which reports where they came out a bit better than Worcester, a five year warranty and the simple fact that after getting quotes from several plumbers/heating engineers - the one who only dealt with valliant came out alot cheaper for the work I needed. The work I had was a big job, taking out an old back boiler and capping gas, installing new boiler in a new location upstairs, new gas intake right through house, new pipework - hot and cold, new flume, capping old thermostat etc. The weather compensating controls do work well and yes my gas bills have come down as opposed to running a G rated back boiler. One thing I will say - steer clear of British Gas - I had an approx 50% more expensive quote from them to fit same boiler. TBH he didnt make much of a sales effort when he realised I had done my home work (dont know how he spotted the pile of quotes, reports and trade literature on my coffee table), he also had the cheek to turn up in a top end BMW, every other bloke turned up in a work van!
  8. Many years ago my Mum and Stepdad found a wild kitten under some brambles in the middle of nowhere when walking their Collie (well the collie found it). They had to hand feed him milk from a tiny bottle for a few months as he was very young when found. Hes now about 14 and his name: Brambles For a male he is very small but his temper and wild nature make up for that. I have received many a good scratch when having a game with him!

    weather

Its blooming typical, back to work for today and tomorrow and both days have nice settled weather here in the East, come Saturday RAIN followed on Sunday by RAIN and more WIND!
  10. Usually have a New years day session but somebody called Stella ruined any chance of me fishing yesterday, by the time I woke up the weather had turned bad again!
  11. I heard that our own Royal Marines tried to emulate this contest but failed as they could not afford a pencil containing lead.
  12. Soon to be 5 - 0If you ask me both teams are both pretty poor but our lads are making yours look good. Not to worry at least there's the football world cup next year
  13. And water type: Specimen/mixed/match/commercial/river/canal. And an idea of species/stocking levels.
  14. Just had a nice hot curry and can now taste and smell curry!
  15. Only ever fished Beccles and would not fancy a bivvy session there!
  16. Did you give the bearings a good clean and re-oil?
  17. Just taken all the decoration's and tree down BAH HUMBUG
  18. Well here I am on my chosen day with man flu (third day of it) and frost still on the ground at 11am. I really don't fancy a dangle today but may have a walk round the lake later.
  19. Fave: The Pogues and Kirsty McColl - Fairy tale of New york for me. Dont like: Wizard - I wish it could be christmas everyday - Once a year is enough thanks (and when would you do the shopping?).
  20. I am knackered - the wind increased all night and peaked at around 3am. When I say peaked it was intense and pretty bad (strong and steady) all night but at around 2am there were some very big gusts that had the windows creaking and the roof rattling, by 3am these were very big gusts (It would seem all of my work colleagues wre also woken up around 2-3 all around the Felixstowe/Ipswich area) and I was sure something on the house would break. Both my girls were woken up by it and came in to sleep with the wife. I dozed on and off - the sort of sleep I get when night fishing and at around 4.30 to 5am it finally went quiet. TBH I could of given you a half hourly report all night! Damage - I had a plant pot knocked over - a few houses around me have missing tiles and one has lost a whole fence (last knocked down by St Jude) again. Oh well lets get Christmas out the way and get ready for the next high winds due Friday
  21. Taking a pounding here on East Anglia coast at time of posting and have been since mid afternoon. All reports say it will get worse/peak between midnight and 2 to 3am Oh joy!
  22. Neither but do some work for one using the other
  23. Anyone have any sessions planned over the festive period? If so what venues, methods, species and baits? I was hoping for a Christmas dangle on Friday but weather for East Anglia is looking very windy. Infact its looking windy / rain every day until New year except Sunday where there may be a window of calm weather. I am hoping conditions are right to give the whip/pole, liquidised bread / bread punch a go on a stillwater for the Roach, fingers crossed. If all fails it will have to be sega bass fishing on the Wii
  24. You can't misplace when strapped to head, don't dribble and have two free hands.
