  1. Lake in Florida, 30 miles across (approx.) Good luck Alan.
  2. Google, Sea Fishing Maps Ireland and log on Ring of Kerry which covers Waterville.
  3. Have a Surfacemaster 200 slightly wider than the 150. Both have a single screw take apart feature enabling spools to be changed in seconds, lovely feature. Spares still available. Have a Penn 112h Special Senator about 40 years old, still preforming well. Remember these reels were made in the USA and gave a lifetime service (with an availibility of spare parts) which is more than can be said for Penn's new "China Dolls."
  4. Hi John, like phil dean, I promise DV to be over this summer and go bassing with you. I think the mixed grills have done it .
  5. It's the Five Star accomodation that's made the difference John, don't care about the fishing
  6. Well done John. Beautiful new home and what a view! I think you may need a safety fence to prevent your guests from falling over the cliff when returning from the Clash. Looking forward to paying you a visit this summer.(Shall pack my carpet slippers.)
  7. Sorry Norm B,mixed monster fishing up with monster tackle, apologies to all concerned. I live in N Ireland and my gripe is postal charges from UK suppliers IE for a spool of braid, £4 to UK mainland and £12 to N.Ireland. I can actually have tackle shipped cheaper from USA than from the UK mainland and I live in the UK!
  8. I am a very satisfied Monster Tackle customer,Fireline at £14, great value Storm shads and all post free to the UK,which in this case includes Scotland and N Ireland, unlike many UK tackle shops who impose an additional surcharge to these destinations. I am not interested in where they source their stock as I am getting value for money and not being ripped off with inflated shipping charges.
  9. Wanted 20/25hp Merc/Mariner two stroke, long shaft, electric start outboard engine in good condition.
  10. I shall make a big effort to get across this year John. Must remember to pack my carpet slippers
  11. HI John, they really look the part. Expect to see them in the Clash and Ship. Roll on "Lad's Week"
  12. It's A long coast ,Mull of Galloway to the Pentland Firth. Pick an area and someone here shall advise you on species/techniques/time of year etc. Good Luck.
  13. Cheap Rubbish, the rod is Penn/Shakespeare. The reel is "our choice and colour," could be any old thing. I cannot understand why anyone would consider making such an e-bay purchase. Better to visit your local tackle shop and see what you are getting. Most will do a deal for cash and offer a guarantee on their goods. I despair when I see reels advertised as "Roddy by Penn" and "Penn Jarvis Walker," they are not made by Penn and are unsuitable for serious sea angling and certainly have not done Penn any favours by endorsing these products. Just ask the seller/stockist "Are spares are available for these reels?" If the awnser is "No" which it usually is, don't buy it.
  14. Not to worry Dale. There was an Englishman working a Mitchell 31 (I think) from Funchal who had a great reputation there who sadly departed this year. It may have been his demise you read about. Agree about Peter's boat a Nelson 42 I believe, which continues to raise some good fish.
  15. Glad to say you are wrong. Was speaking to Peter today, he is alive and well on holiday in England at present. You really had me worried, Peter is a wonderful person and a great skipper. www.fishmadeira.com
  16. Try Peter Bristow, www.fishmadeira.com
  17. Try Peter Bristow , an Aussie who really knows his stuff. www.fishmadeira.com/
  18. It only applies in the Republic of Ireland. If Northern Ireland is threatened we may have to call on HM for support!
  19. Brilliant! Thanks Elton. Well done Jim and Andy.
  20. Looking for a Mercury/Mariner 20HP two-stroke long shaft outboard engine in good condition.
  21. Hi John, is this in preparation for becoming a resident there?
  22. Penn Long Beach and Seaboy series reels which are now made in China are no cheaper (pricewise) than when they were "Made with pride in the USA" Penn must be benfiting from the differential in labour costs, it's certainly not the angler.
  23. --> QUOTE(Norm B @ Sep 9 2007, 09:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Shakespeare started their factory there over 10 years ago and it's well run and the quality control is as good as here. Penn moved a lot of their production over to there a few years ago and although they had quality control problems to begin with they are now sorted. Now that Pure Fishing, Penn and Shakespeare (K2) are all under the same ownership I would assume that the majority, if not all production will move to China in the next few years. All the machinery will work over there, they just need the quality staff, which they have between them now. So let's see if we notice the difference, I don't think we will. Must agree Norm B, quality shall be OK and prices remain unchanged further swelling the coffers of Shakespeare and Co. with no benefit to the angler.
