  1. Oh heck, just recieved the warning from my head of communications, You would have thought that a £multi-million company, who has hundreds of mobile phones in use, would have checked the info. I will now have great delight in sending him the link.
  2. Sod it why didn`t i use the speelll checker
  3. Be aware, people are recieving e-mails or letters via post, suggesting that the emergency survices could benifit, if everybody could put on their mobile phone an emergency contact number in the address book listed under ICE (IN CASE of EMERGENCY). DONT!!!!!!! ITS A HOAX ! Be very careful with this one - although the intention is great, it is unfortunately phase one of a phone based virus that is laying a path for propagating very quickly. Passing it on is part of the virus interestingly, such is the deviousness of the people who write these things. We have already seen the "second phase" where a program is sent as part of a ring-tone download that goes into your address book and looks for something it recognises - you've guessed it, an address book entry Marked: "ICE or "I.C.E." or whatever. It then sends itself to the "ICE list" charging you for the privilege. Please Delete.
  4. What spec.is your graphic card? At present there is a prob with XP2 & the radion 9800 256mb & the latest drivers.

  7. Just kicked Norton internet security out the door, last update caused my computer to crash
  8. Would you FFFing believe it, I read one of the other forums on Norton, decided after great deliberation, that my probs started after the last live update. So un-installed Norton internet security & basically my PC crashed, spent allday reloading (Done backup first) without Norton & Now all is working. Norton has now been kicked out the door. Using AVG! Thanks for all your responses, from a well happy PC user.

It makes you think that this has happenned 1 day after the announcement of the Olympic location is to be London. Would the same thing be happenning if France or Moscow etc won, have these bombers got people in all major locations where the Olymics could have taken place?

  13. phone BT & ask them to turn the "gain" up.Usually this is set to either 1 or 2. Max is 5 which gives more data flow for your modem, which in turn can connect at a higher rate.
  14. I have an on board network card which is connected to my laptop via a crossover cable, been working fine. Now i have a problem, my laptop can ping itself(192.168.0.2)& my main PC(192.168.0.1), but my main PC will not ping itself, will ping laptop ok. Does anybody have any idea`s.
  15. I`m a PC maintenance guy, working for a computer company, been in the business for over 20 yrs. My outlook on the PC maintenance industry is that we are in a throw-away society,we no-longer need to go into component level diagnostics, just buy a new part & connect it,(plug & play).Do we really need to know about PC architecture? as a computer engineer the answer is no, not any more.Spending too much time trying to repair a computer is non productive & too expensive when parts are so cheap. We have software that tells you what is wrong with the PC(obviously not if the power supply has gone)so long as you know the basics of what connects to what, & understand how to configure the bios, we component level PC engineers are a dying breed, so my advice would be to stick with sofware.
  16. quote: OS on old pc was Windows 98. On this one it is Windows XP Home. quote: You probably need to update software. Also USB on old PC was maybe ver 1.0, on new PC could be ver2.0.
  17. My Company must get through atleast 40 maxtor hardrives a month of all sizes, seems though most can be repaired, they seem to loose their firmware. guys in workshop reload firmware, perform a low level format, ship them back out, to the engineers & they do seem to last after this process. (Please i do not work for maxtor)Getting hold of the firmware reload disks from the manufactures is not easy. Best i can do at present is follow this link, but it is in French Maxtor firmware [ 27. 18. I use e-bay, quite alot,(not as a business)on the e-mail you recieved from e-bay, the 1 congratulating you on your win, you have the option to leave feedback. Leave a negative 1, also you can report too e-bay the failure to produce goods. These options do work, also if to many complaints are recieved they are investigated.
  19. I think the nipples need some grease!
  20. Any of you guys done time on the Vindi?
  21. I just can`t get my head round the idea of ghosts & spirits. If they do exist then since the beginning of the human race, billions & billions of people have died, & what about the animals? I would think the afterlife place is getting a bit fullup by now, and out of these billions of spirits we cant find one! Maybe i have got this all wrong, but nothing has proved otherwise to me. I need proof, because i do want ghosts & spirits to exist. My wife used to be a funeral director & she can tell you some stories, but not one with regards to ghosts or spirits [ 20.
