  3. He he, he got yer there Britas Good to see its all calming down a bit Nearly had to get you all together and mad drunk till you staggered about saying "I wuv you, your my bestest mate hic SDD~~~~~~
  4. Excellent post as usual oh tartmeister, keep em comin it keeps me sane in the cr@p weather we are havin here lately SDD~~~~~
  5. Hi Marc Mine is held in by cheapo mastic (yes you can, to the people who say you can't!) it has been there 2 + years and the "picture" is 100%. I followed someones advice (off here!) and cut the bottom off a full tube (stops bubbles) and splodged (tech term) a huge blob in the hull. Squidged the ducer down and held it there with a weight for AT LEAST 24 hours. The curing time is critical I think so do it when you plan NOT to use the yak for a few days. Also make sure the hull is COMPLETELY DRY before glueing!. Good luck SDD~~~~
  6. Oooh yeah, Bream, was hoping to get some in Jersey in June but no luck, which means I have to go back and try again I adore skate and I hear boats on my work vhf talking about catching it very near where I fish from (in fact not as far a paddle !) so I have been bottom fishing again! I really enjoy this because plaice, which are good around here, are one of fave to eat (yum!) Bloomin doggies are hyowge here though and devistate the fish bait. They have mouths like solid plastic and I struggle getting the hooks out, so might change the hooks I use (S/S baitholder ones) The tidal run here isn't too bad and a 3 or 4 oz lead is usually fine. I have just started using baitcasting rods and they are fun to use coupled with atrificial swimbaits that I got from Jersey! The Needles look like an awsome place to fish, envy you there If you get a blonde, post some piccies (sounds pornographic that ha ha ) SDD~~~
  7. Ooops you are right it was duurrr!! That sounds like an interesting combo! Hmm let me know how that goes! I am going lighter these days. The fish I get here are mainly cod and Pollock with the odd flatties thrown in (everybody is catchin Bass except me!! grrr the bloody things are leaping around me, especially at the estuary mouth and sand bar, but I just CAN'T catch em ) so don't just want to drag em in on a brush pole jobby being such light fish (2 to about 5lb average) For the Tope and bigger species you lot get the 10-20 to 30-50lb sounds ideal! SDD~~~
  8. Heh heh will have the beer at a meet SM, like I say determined to make some this summer (summer???) that might be a trade descriptions matter I have higher res pics of you want some or if you want me to take any specific ones let me know by PM mate ? I looked at the salt rods you mentioned and it was a toss up between that and the ebay firefly one! Glad I did. The rod eyes are nice quality. They send you a letter how to look after em and how to put em together etc, nice touch as normally on ebay you just get the rod and a receipt ha ha! All the best Dave
  9. Done That surprised me SM! 875grams just in the cloth bag (thin)!! You were right quite a bit really (worth it IMO with my track record of wreckin stuff ha ha!) The rod feels nice and light in the hands which is good for me as I like to hold the rod as opposed to leaving it in the rod holder That's half a beer you owe me he he SDD~~~~
  10. My neighbour has just bought two, both yellow for himself and his son! They look ok for messing about on the shore front and on lakes which is why they bought em! They seem happy enough with em. I wouldn't like to do as much in them as I do in mine though, not sure they could handle any roughish water Horses for courses though, like I say they seem delighted with them (they don't fish from them though) SDD~~~~
  11. Stuffy Sod!!!! Snot fair!!!!!!!! I Jersey Not jealous or anything (seeth, nash, grrr, growl, hissss) ha ha Oh yeah, buy it there!! Costs a lot to take one (I take mine every trip!) SDD~~~~~
  12. Superb! Hope to come and have a paddle with you either later this summer or next year again mate My mate Prowler should have swatted up on how to teach me to catch some Bass by then, rather than teach al aunce how to swim on a leash ha ha! I have talked to Derek one year when I saw him launching the scuppers (spotted them right in!!) will have to keep my eye open for the book! Hope you get the all clear and get out and catch some of them Bass that must be leaping over the bows by now Hey Speciman, yeah I noticed that the boat rod is not listed, but there are a few for sale on their ebay site! I left some feedback to say so and a nice chap replied saying that the site is being updated and all will be on there soon, including the ability to buy online (oh god my poor wallet) Am seriously thinking about the travel spining rod now as I am well impressed with the quality of the boat rod Hope the misses isn't gonna read this as she can't see why I NEED more fishing gear, but like I say, it's not about need it's about WANT ha ha! Right Richi? SDD~~~~
  13. Nice one Mike Lets see them piccies of some nice fish to cheer me up until the weather settles here! SDD~~~~
  14. Ha ha Richi! We are all getting tackle tarts in our own little way oh Tart-meister Wizard Will let you know how it handles with some of the cod / Pollock from my local mark (subject to ever being able to get out in conditions decent enough to fish!) Think it will be a breeze though as TOP quality kit! Keep putting it together and taking it apart like a kid at crimbo driving the misses insane ha ha Hey JT Has it warmed up over there yet or do you want me to come over and bring another can of sunshine? Hope yer keepin ya chin up mate!! Seadoodavid~~~~
  15. Ha ha, I wondered how long the TART would take Well, like I always say, it's not about NEED it's abiut WANT SDD~~~~
  16. Hi mate The inner case is an extra layer of protection that is removeable (to wash etc) The outer case has a zipped pocket which is ideal for a small tackle box although it fits my shakespeare baitcasting reel in no problem (don't think bigger reels would go in though, but I think that would make it too bulky anyway!) You are more than welcome to have a blast of mine mate! (am determined to make some meets this year ) I risked the accusations of a bung coz I was genuinely impressed with the rod as it fits all the requirements I had when I was looking for a kind of "all round solution" for the few rods I have! Also (and I hate to admit this!) I lost my Penn firetips in a tip (boo hoo ) so I wanted something that would clip behind me to store the spare sections etc but not be huge and get in the way of my paddle stroke. In the case it measures 28" so IDEAL to go behind our scupper seats!! heh heh I attached the 20-30lb sections to try setting up on the salty stuff and only had a 6 ounce weight on, but I reckon it would take about 8 ish maybe more, will have to try that!. Just weighed it to the bemusement of the misses who just shook her head! and it weighs 1.5 kilos fully packed (2 with my reel in!) You can also leave the reel on the reel mount section inside the case which I did to speed up setup time). p.s. I loved the post you did on the multi-day trip something I plan to do myself, real chill time that I reckon, thats ASSUMING WE GET ANY SUMMER!!!! ha ha All the best SDD~~~~
  17. Firefly Duo Travel Rods on Ebay I was gong to drop a picture of the Firefly Duo travel boat rod that I had seen / purchased on ebay as I thought it may be the ideal rod / rods for my style of kayaking. I only have one rod rest and I liked the idea of being able to change the rod types while being on the water and still have only one rod holder up front!. I was that impressed when I received the rod that I thought I would do a more in-depth review in case it may suit others and be worth a look at, so here goes! 1 This is the quiver style case that comes as part of the package! This, as well as the quality spec. of the rod, had caught my eye when I first saw the ebay listing. It is VERY well made and keeps the rods safe and sound. (71cm / 28”) 2 The case opens out to reveal a protective foam lined “inner” case which ties neatly inside the outer case and is also held by Velcro in the bottom. The rods themselves (6 sections giving the option of making up a 10-20lb or 20-30lb rod) are also contained in a “roll up” cloth case which rolls up neatly and fits perfectly inside the “inner” This effective “3 case protection” I think will protect the rods from whatever abuse I may be able to throw at them! 3 The rod sections themselves just scream quality and you can clearly tell they are hand made / finished. They fit together wonderfully and look very classy I reckon. 4 The rod in “bendo mode” sadly not a fish today as the weather limited my mission to a quick trip out to fight the swell before heading back to shore to curse the weather man! 5 The stainless guides are the best I have seen / had on a rod so far! 6 The rod has a “double tip” type affair which seemed to give the rod a feel of power in the tip. Again beautifully finished. 7 The reel seat is another quality made item, smooth and secure, I would say much better than “fuji” style fittings IMO and the duplon foam grips have nice ergonomic finger grips. The rod “feels” beautiful in the hand. 8 The case fits nicely behind my seat (as I had pictured in my mind and one of the reasons for buying the rod) I secured it on with a bungie and clip affair, but I may add “D” rings to the strap eventually to just finish it off! 9 It took seconds to release the bungie attachment point and bring the rod to my lap for setting up, leaving one end of the bungie attached in case “nautical juggler syndrome” kicked in ha ha Putting the rod together is also quick and easy. The 20-30lb sections have matched “dots” to make selecting the right sections a doddle! (nice touch) When you purchase, you can select between 10-20 \ 20-30lb or 20-30 \ 30-50lb options! (same price) I am delighted with the rod /rods as you can probably guess by my ramblings! For £58 and £8 P/P I have got myself a beautiful quality full carbon travel duo rod in a case that is by far the best protection factor and portability option I could wish for. I cannot go on about the quality of the whole package enough! Which is why I have posted this description. The company who produces them http://www.fireflyangling.com/ are new and are feeling the market, price wise I reckon which is why I thought I would get one quickly as I would imagine they will go up as they become more popular as I am sure they will. And NO! No bungs just my honest opinion of what I think is rare these days, something that actually gives value for money! All I need now is the bloomin weather to improve so I can get out and get some fishing done! Is there ever gonna be a break in this gloom or are you boys down south getting sun sun sun?? If so lets have some piccies of it to cheer us up in the frozen north ha ha. All the best boys Seadoodavid ~~~~~
  18. Superb!! That link has tempted me now (where's the cheque book! ) I have bought a travel rod that I think will be ideal for kayak fishing! It is made by a new company called fireflyangling. They are a new, relatively unknown company, but I have checked out their website http://www.fireflyangling.com/ and the specs on the rod I have purchased. The quality s/steel fittings and top notch carbon blank look SUPERB! Can't wait for it to arrive! Will give a write up about it when I have tested it as I believe it could be a handy rod to have for the kayak (has a quiver holder that looks PERFECT for attaching behind a kayak seat for storage / carriage) I bought one quick as I expect these will go up for this spec as they get established!. Two speck rods in one! The photo's you posted are STUNNING to say the least mate That really did look the ideal kayaking break Keep em coming! SDD~~~~~~
  19. Hey Simon After MANY hours looking, deciding, and looking again, I noticed a class looking rod on good old ebay. It is made by a new company called firefly and at the price thay were selling them for seemed a bargain so ordered one! (two rods kit 10-20 and 20-30lb for £58 squids) and a decent looking quiver / holder which I reckon will fit nicely attached to seat buckles behind my seat on the scupper!) Item number: 180130346924 I looked on their website http://www.fireflyangling.com/ and they sell all sorts of rods and they look very good quality for the price! I can see the price going up if these become a big name so thought I would get in quick ha ha!. Will do a bit of a revue after I have tried it out at the weekend (cmon oh god of weather let us have some sun ) Hopefully wont drop this one in the sea like my firetips (oops ) thats another story eek! SDD~~~~~
