  1. Plenty of boats launch from Minnis Bay at the weekends(between Margate and Herne Bay). There is a padlocked gate across the ramp but when busy is always left open.Get there early and you can park free in the road. There are plenty of skate being caught and hundreds of dogfish.Fresh herring best bait at the moment, squid good aswell if you dont mind catching dogfish allday.Once launched you only have to travel 1/2 mile to get amongst fish. Hope this helps. PS would have been happy to meet up but have to work this weekend
  2. Hi zzippy, is the caper still for sale, cheers mark
  3. Well done, cracking picture........apart from the hair
  4. Feel a bit gutted now. Decided to travel down to kent from chelmsford on sunday to try for bass from the knolls. We had fresh mackeral for bait, frozen herring and squid.Launched at 0930 at Minnis Bay,from here its about 6-7 miles to the Knolls.Fished for about 2 hours and caught only dogs, we moved to the Longnose bouy as there is more tide run there but again only dogs.Travelled back just before low water and anchored up a couple of miles from Minnis hoping to get some skate from the banks again only dogs Not much chat on radio except for reports of small skate and schoolies and loads of dogs.Came in about 1630 and got home 1940.I actually enjoyed the day as i gave the engine agood blast due to the flat sea and got abit of a tan .I'm definately launching from Brightlingsea next weekend tho

  11. Elton, maybe you should consider a good secondhand 3X3 now http://www.landroverpushchairs.co.uk/
  12. Nissan Terrano II for me, loads of room, fold down seats and very relliable.Pulls my warrior165 all over the country no trouble. If retrieving from a beach its best to fit "dirt tyres" as road tyres can still slip in 4wheel drive, does make motorway driving noisy tho.
  13. http://www.animatedknots.com/index.php I find this site very useful for reminding me how to tie knots

  16. used to have a plough anchor and 4M of 9mm chain on 16 foot boat.Fine in mud/sand but would sometimes drag when on harder ground. Now have a stainless grapnel with same chain, this holds in all ground.Have been told bruce anchors are also very good allround anchor.Hope this is of some use

    West Bay

Had lovely camping weather all weekend but not a lot of mackerel.Fished friday evening and saturday morning at freswater only had a few fish.Went to abbotsbury sat nite and couldn't beleive how many people were fishing, probably stretched for over 2 miles.Got back in car and drove to burton bradstock where we found a space to fish. Caught about 30 mackerel but no luck with lures and bait for bass.My sons also caught 4 small pollock(i think)on feathers as it got dark.Had a great few days and look forward to going back in august. Also saw about 20 buzzards hunting for prey on the a31 which was great to see.
