  1. I am fishing baden hall fisher this friday and it been over 3 years since i last fished it. I intend to fish themiddle pool as it is supposed to be the most well stocked with every carp you hook to be near double figures. My mate went saturday and had 1 8lb and 1 10lb down in the margins on maggot. So im off with him friday as i was intreeged by his catch. If anyone has any info on which baits and methods work best would be great. Or an account on what you've see caught or caught your self would be even better. Iv checked there site and noted some things down but websites cant allways be as helpfull on the day. With different baits and methods doing better than others in certain years than others.
  2. I use my keepnet whene ever i get the chance. I own for for all aspects of fishing. I have 2 canal nets and 2 carp nets. Some people havesaid that they dont like keepnets as they dont like the idea of so much fished cramed into a net. I dont really like this idea so i do use 2 nets for siver fish and carp, or 2 when i know i may catch alot of carp so i spread them in each net. Infact i dont like waters that ban keepnets on there water when pleasure fishing as at the end i like to see what i have caught, if im spending £8 to fish i would atleat like to see what i've got to show for it.
  3. Well i get me licence tuesday, and ill be going tuesday evening anf wednesday evening ill let ya know how i do. Im fishing me fave tench peg on the pool, and every time i went last year i had a tench and had lots of bites. With the warm weather we've had a few should come out. I use simple freelining of bread my favourite bait and method of catching them on me local lake.
  4. is there any way of contacting the fishing clubs within a couple of miles who own/hire stretches of the canal were it was last seen. All the strestches would have a baillif who comes down nearly everyday and ask if they had seen the boat. ps. may sound stupid, but has anyone checked on google and any other search engine, someone may have seen something strange or know whats happened without knwoing about the boat and person being missing.
  5. I would love to see a Fishing Channel. Theres plenty of companies which are more than campaible of making a tv channel. If the companies like browning and TFGear, and all the rest join together surely they could afford to keep a tv channel going. We have the Angling Times and many other magazines who would be capabile of adding there input into the channel. We havve great anglers like matt hayes and john wilson with plenty of information to share but no were to show it and im sure they'd love to be apart of a channel dedicated to fishing.
  6. I find the method is extremly good on some waters, i first saw it a few years ago on Browning Cudmore complex. The angler was pitching to a small island justa as it hit the bottom he had instant bites and ended up with 160lb of fish. ive used it a couple of times and find it best in the summer months when the fish are really on the feed. when using this tactic its best to hold onto your rod tight as it can be an instant bite and in most cases a violent take. i usually use method mix whih is made for the job. But a couple of times when i fish pools which carp love pellets i tend to use soem dampened pellets moulded around the feeder. I like using a single dead maggots as bait on harder waters, but it isnt as good on pools with alot of small fish. And i allways use a hooklength of about 2- 4 inches. im off tommorow to a contest tommorow and ill see how they go on it, i think it might be a bit cold still but ill see how i do.
  7. To make the crumb i first buy some cheap loafs, i find asda is best as thy sell there own brand for 30p. I dont cut off the crusts of mine as i see no reason, i place it in the blender till all the lumps have gone and put it in me bait bucket. I keep doing this till ive gone through about 4 loafs. If i intend to use some in the next 1-2 days i keep it in a separate tub. With the rest i usually leave it out in the sun to dry out so its like groundbait. If you not lucky enough to have sun at the time i place it in a large stew pot and place it in the oven for a couple of minutes tpo dry it out. when using the dried out mix just add water as you would do groundbait i usually mix in 1/4 a bag of some normal groundbait just to add some flavour and colour. if you intend to use the crumb straight away i dont add water i i find if i compress each end it stays in the feeder like groundbait. you can also add some normal groundbait to this in this case a few drops of water to moisten the groundbait will do.
  8. well ive signed it, dont like canoeists or boaters(had bad experience with them). Went on a contest once on the meese at tibberton, we got there and a group canoeists and a boat had stopped there for a barberque. We asked them to move along so we could fish and they said that they were there first and they have more rights to be on the river than we did. We asked them why and they said that river are meant for boats and canoes not anglers as we spoil the rivers and heart the fish. We told them to get going as we were the owners of the stretch, they didnt move until they realised there were 18 of us and 5 of them. And just as they were leaving they said that atleast there doing something that requires skill, thats right its harder to go down the river with the current than trying to fool a fish. if fishing was as easy as canoeing then wed end up with 100lb each every time we go. (i have done canoeing and found it 10 times easier than fishing)
  9. ill take a pic next time i go down. me mates was going to take one but by the time he got his phoneout they went off down stream to the rocks.
  10. yeh got latest version. old version was one with bridge right. never caught one over 20lb on old version only fish by bridge in that lbowl bit were there was alot of stockies.
  11. Ive just come across this in this weeks angling times so i thought id explain to you what it is, how it works and show you some pics. The feeder is the shape of a spod and threds on the line like an inline feeder or lead. Unlike a spod this spod like object springs open longways. This is done by a sping loaded mechanism, the bait bomb is put together and you put a little PVA band over the clip on either part of the bait bomb. This hold it together while you put the feeder mix into it. You do this by opening the cap at the top of the bait bomb, then putting in you desired bait. They say any type of bait can be put into it. When you chuck it out the bait bomb land to the bottom weighted side down so this meening it allways land with the opening at the top, so when the band disolves the bait bomb springs open and thows the bait out making a carpet of bait around your hookbait. They are for sale now for £6.99 and inculed 40 pva bands. The pva bands are sold separate at £2.49 for 50 and £3.99 for 100 And 4 additionel link tubes can be bought for £0.99 Theve only just started selling them i believe and i wander if they would be willing to let anglersnet try one out. good to see how efective it really is. I dont know who deals with getting tackle to review but i hope they could get one of these to try out. Maybe you could get 2 and let a corse/match angler have one and let a specimen angler have another to try out so we can see how good they are for both sets of fishing. you can visit there website by clicking here Below are some pictures of the bait bomb This picture is of the Bait Bomb and its mechanism This picture shows the PVA system This picture shows you the cap in which you put you bait
  12. see you saw milo's army then. id love to go fishing and have someone set all me tackle up and pack it away at the end its the only parts of fishing i dont like. hopefully some day in the future there sell some milo robots dedicate for the job
  13. my post is probenbly not much to do with the topic but i was wandering how many of us out there have had the pleasure of fishing with top any top anglers from around the world or have met any whilst down on the banks. just wandering as this i went fishing with me moms boyfriend and mate and noticed he had a team ireland top. and asked me moms boyfriend and he said he fished in world championships in italy. and also fished in the club world championships. i asked him(mike) about it and he said the best time was when he beat the owner of milo twice in two days. he said when he fished next to him on the second day he was setting up his stuff but the owner of milos tackle was being set up by 6 blokes, ready so he could just plumb the depth and wait. and whilst he was fishing the owner of milo had ldozens of people behind him but he said the best thing was at the end when he weiged in and beat the milo owner. and at the end after the milo owner left his peg and went off the 6 blokes came back and packed all the his tackle away into a van. also me moms boyfriends uncle lives 4 doors away from matt hayes. we went round to his unlce and saw matt hayes plodding down off to the severn just around the corner. matts even dug out his own peg, we went down to see it a few days later as we knew he was probebly on it on that day, we got there and couldnt see it as matt way filming. havent seen it aired yet hope to in future to see what methods and baits to use.
  14. hey julian if record is just under 40lb then i beat it few months ago i caught a 46lb 4 oz mirror. i think i lost pic when i changed computers. ill have a look for it.
  15. yeh they were otters wasnt sure myself but me grandad who was with me said they were definatly otters. also the angler who was down when i went a week later said that the otters were allways here on the the stretch. they were very tame and sat on the bolders behind me until i left. ps.just looked at a few pics on google and they definatly looked more like an otter than a mink.
  16. last year i would of said 'GooD'(because of the fish they were killing) but otters are brilliant. i went down to a stretch of the severn on me club card for a spot of barbel fishing and had a family of 5 next to me all session. very playfull and the young ones loved the luncheon meat(the only thing i could get to eat it ,on the day). they turned a boring session into a good few hours of fun. went down week later and left me for a more genorous angler
  17. MY LOCAL-ive sometimes gone for a single night fishing and forgot it but i usually go down late afternoon and go by 9 in morning but the baillif never usually comes sown till 12. but sometimes he comes down early on some longer sessions and shakes tent to wake you up(stupid arse). and turns round and says i should wright me name in bold on me bivvy so he knows its me (thats right imgonna wright my name on my £200 bivvy) ive also left it when i go stalking (with just a rod and hooks, so forget to get it out of shed) but hes never asked for it. i think he only asks for it when i first go in the new season and never asks again. yet i got to other pools on my club card an they come down every 3 hours and ask for it each time i go. i think that if you forget it you have to pay for a day ticket.
  18. i dont have a korum chair, but i have a badger chair and its very easy fishing with a pole. i mailnly use it when i got to a pool near me full of small crucians and its perfect for this as i can sit back and fish 1-3 sections out very comfortably. i have used it at carp pools such as docklow and furnace mill where i know where ill be marging fishing. you can fish out up to 6 metres comfortably but anymore and its very aukward.
  19. read this in the sun. alot of fish n chips.
  20. your knot looks similar to the knotless knot. i only use two types of knot the knotless knot for hook(when hair riging) and the palmer knot for swivels or for my hook. only came across plamer knot when someone mentioned it on here and its brilliant as it can be used for anything. has to be my favourite knot and simple aswell.
  21. they were selling them at poundland aswell. they were 6 inches long ones i bought lasted about 6 hours, they came in packs of 50 in a tube(they were also red, blue and yellow) . they also sold large ones in packs of 2 these were about 3 inches long and an inch thick these were brilliant for rebaiting at night. i cut smaller ones and put them in droppers and perfect to se form bivvie.
  22. look at pic below. the pool on right is two different colours. its the only pool like this around the area and there are about 6 pools within a 2 miles or less. all have gravel bottoms and noone can explain it and some have said it could be because of pollution.
  23. best thing to to is chop them up and feed them with casters(just mix them together in tub). works very well on canals especially for large perch and tench. sometimes i may put in a bit of black groundabait in the mix but only a bit i usually put a pole cup or 2 in. makes a good dark cloud to encourage fish in swim and best in winter for me as canal seems to turn gin clear in winter.
  24. Sent off for a holiday out the sun(sun holiday). and of cause chose locations with lakes. got post through this morning and found out that were off to thorpe park in cleethorpe, its near skegness. well free entertainment passes meen free fishing so ill chuck in telescopic rod and reel and bits. just wandered if anyone had fished it and had any info. such as water depths, features on lake, what fish are in lake and most important what methods and baits work best.
