  1. The story of today it seems, I dropped my wife at work then went to my local water for a run round about 5 miles. Running round it was frosty and a little ice under foot, the most spectacular frost laden massive cobweb I've ever seen. By the time I got back to the car and returned with the camera the first of the fishermen had began arriving (about 0730 - 0800 ish) and someone had moved it. Gutted it would have been a really good shot.
  2. I still have my "old" 35mm but use it only for slide film now. To be honest I've not used it since last May and probably not again till I feel I can afford the film. I tend to use it only for special occasions cos I know it will out live digital and paper prints. Folk tend to think your wierd now when you can't immediatley show them what they have just seen anyway LOL and I tend to get comments like "Oh my phone is 10 billion megapixels and I can see the picture now not in weeks".
  3. It is a good picture and a worthy winner, well done
  4. Beutifull those Steve, something to be proud of.
  5. I think you need to appoint a dedicated photo forum moderator for evrything to run smoothly again Maybe two to cover what Mr W did.
  6. Excellant idea, "The Wiggly photo challenge" a tribute to the man himself.
  7. Theres no subject now Steve, its open, you can post whatever takes your fancy and the judge picks their 6 favourite for poll.
  8. Hi Steve, nice to see/hear from you again. Hope all is well and we see more of you soon. Must be nice at the moment up your part of the country now. Looking forward to some of your pictures.
  9. I'm so sorry and upset, this was a huge shock to me. Please pass my regards to his family. I knew Danny personally, before he left Sheffield he visited my house on a few occasions, always to help me with a problem. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he helped me no end with photoshop, in fairness he taught me all I know. When I messed up some shots of my Sons wedding he was there for me and helped rescue them. Even after he moved to Cornwall we kept in touch by PMs and we often shared problems and advice. He even sent me programs for the computor up to a few months ago. He asked me as a favour to judge Novembers photo comp and I was pleased to be of help to him even in a small way. He will be sadly missed by me as a very good friend and I will always remeber him as a kind, generous and giving man. May you rest in peace Danny, gone but never forgotten.
  10. I should think that evrybody would reccomend the one they are using or why keep it? For me it would always be the Cannon EOS range, from entry level to proffessional there is a camera and a range of lens that fits the entire EOS series of cameras, digital and non digital. A non digital lens can be purchased for just a little money and used with the digital camera, saving £s.
  11. I always find these places very moving, especially as I was a soldier for 29 years and lost many friends, my Son was also a soldier. I always stand and think, "what an utter waste why do we do this, will we never learn." Perhaps a visit to just a few of these should be a part of the current education process for teenagers and compulsory for all politicions on an annual basis.
  12. Maybe we can move on now as the majority have spoken. Well done for putting it to the poll Mr W, but I think the outcome was never in doubt and you have my full support for a continuing (and sometimes thankless) job well done.
  13. Ecellant value when you look at the cost new and the fact all EOS lens fit them.
  14. The beers in his rucksack, the weights sunk him into the sand
  15. Well done, a winner from the start. Good ones from others too.

  17. Hmm swear filter or politically correct filter I think, It should have read "P i k e y" as in the fish! Methinks its not been used much. Yup, just tried it again, when you type in p i k e y its reads pedunkle. Obviously what I meant was the area was swarming with Pike, not the "other" meaning LOL. Gave me the wife and my daughter in law a good laugh at its meaning anyway. Sorry to those who read it, know what it means and think I've gone mad.
  18. Sorry I double posted, can you delete the second one please? Little stream at Castleton, coming down from Peveril Castle. Dam Flask, just near where I live LOL
  19. Had a run out for some fresh air and a little stroll this afternoon, the sun came out and it turned into a nice day despite the bitter cold. Took a few pics, little streams that are normally just trickling are now raging torrents. Called by my most favourite water on the way home, looked quite idilic and quite pedunkle in places. so I was screaming "can't believe no ones got rods out here." Everyone seemed to be sat fishing in the most convienient place to the car parks. What shocked me most having not fished it in nearly two years was they now allow motor boats out grrrr. It is a vast water and over 150 feet deep in places but has never had motor boats on before. Mr W, full marks if you can name the stream, but feel sure you'll know the water.
