  1. Some more snaps, and better. http://www.billfishtacklesupply.com/Swivels/swivels.htm
  2. Good call, mate. Amazing how much garbage is "left" by fishos. A while ago there was a half-mile of commercial net found on some pristine North Qld beach. The local yokels (read ferals), cut it up into pieces for hammocks etc. and left large amounts of rubbish from the find. The numbers of wildlife injured is enormous, due to man's thoughtless actions. Please take your rubbish home
  3. There used to be dozens in the Perth Zoo, many years ago; can't see them being eradicated.
  4. How soon, mate??? And where did you decide???. Best of luck in that endeavour Most of my old books and most of my National Geographics were given to the local high school for the students, heard that some teachers wanted a few
  5. Here you go, mate. This link is pretty comprehensive: http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html
  6. G'day mate. If you intend buying an overhead reel without a level wind, get the store to do it for you. I have 4 overhead reels that I put 30 lb mono backing on, about 100 metres and top-shot with 20 lb braid. Never once have I had a trapped line. You need to use the "educated thumb" principle; as you wind in, use the thumb of the other hand to guide the line across the reel, slightly. Level wind, on most overheads, does not lay line cross-wise. I believe a few were made, but did not catch on too well.
  7. Northern Territory for the uranium...Narbelek and those places up in and around the Arnham Land border...Brilliant country and big barra, crocs and thirsts. I was up there in 1964 when El Sherana uranium mine found the largest lump of pitchblende at the time, 1600 lbs Most of the dump trucks are the 250 tonners, 1 tyre costs about $30,000 !
  8. Unfortunately, there have been many sackings due to this legislation and then the bosses have asked them to reapply at up to 30% less wages??!! A group of meat workers, some with 14 years experience had this done to them. Anyhow, we do need skilled workers and it is a great place to bring up the young families.....except for South Aus....er, sorry clifftop, forgot you live there Electrical workers on some of the big coal mines are earning $2400/week, which equates to about 960 quid/week;the average wage for the labourers on the mines is about $1150/week, a nice figure for shift workers, 4 days on, 4 days off. Some are doing 10 days on and 4 days off. Average house prices are rising, due to the influx of the southern staters moving north and are in the $300,000 to $420,000 bracket for 3 bedrooms and air-con, a quarter acre plot make up the prices.
  9. The Industrial Relations Law sounds bad, according to the labour side......However, the latest job figures tell it very differently. The people on the dole has dropped about 1-1.5% in the past six months, for every state and territory. Most work is, as has been said, in the building, mining and health sectors, with the entertainment industry starting to boom, thanks to the terrorist factions. Qld has an annual influx of southern staters of about 200,000 a year looking for work; high mining wages and lower fuel prices AND the weather are their main reasons for the shift.
  10. Major Hiddens is now esconced in Far North Qld. well above Cooktown, at a little community which is owned/ rented to the Vietnam Veterens. As a matter of fact, one of my neighbours' will be setting off on sunday to get to the annual reunion. Incidentally, the major quite often got lost while making those tv shows and the helicopter pilot pulled him out of the proverbial a few times.....
  11. A dog.....the only creature that is happy to see you when you get home......no matter what mood you are in. I have lost a few of them over the years and will NEVER be without another; such good companions. My sympathies to you and your family.
  12. Airlie Beach marina/charter area has free parking, pub, coffee house, restaurants(2), laundry, toilets, shop etc. etc.
  13. G'day mate. Have a squiz at this site, hey? http://www.squidgy.com.au/tails.html And check out BCF on your search engine. It is an Australian boating, camping and fishing chain of stores. Saw 1 set of softies at 24" a few months ago. Sorry I cannot help any more as I have a few health problems. http://www.bcf.com.au/

  16. Ahem, http://www.askoxford.com/results/?view=dic...er=score%2Cname
  17. Are you trying to save the fish, or the hook????????????? If you cut the line off as close to the fish as possible, you have a far greater chance of saving the fish. NEVER stick a disgorger down a fish's throat, imagine the trauma!!
  18. Qld only has 1 licence for fishing any of 29 freshwater dams at AUS$35/year, no licence for any rivers, or sea and, Qld is 2.7 times the size of Texas. I feel for people who have to pay through the nose for a basic right to fish; having said that, our licence covers all the stocking and boat ramps for the 29 dams.
  19. Have a think about Australia. http://www.google.com.au/search?q=nt+fishi...:en-US:official
  20. S'trewth Newt, the remote is marvellous. I hate adverts that tell me fast food is better; that I will save a HUGE $1.50 and only spend a SMALL $250 on a new electrical product.
  21. Onya mate. Looks like Quabba, Point Cloates area and The Caves. Some monster spanos and snapper from the suds, hey? Good to see another Australian joining in.
  22. Here you go, mate, try this lot http://www.fishnet.com.au/knotsrigs/knotsrigs.html
  23. Yup, we were beaten. Hope the next game is in Cairns and the Kiwis get heat stroke....
  24. I'm sorry I couldn't post on the anniversary, I was in hospital for 10 days. The people of London have that remarkable resilience that saw them through the Blittz, the IRA bombings and now, the terrorist muslim bombings. GOD BLESS YOU LONDON.
