  1. Try Pheasant Tail nymphs size 14 or even 16 if you can get them, also ones with goldheads are good.Bloodworm pattern's are killer's too fished with slow or quick short pulls.Buzzer's are worth a try if fish are showing and any terrestrials ant's, beetle's, Daddy's, Black Gnat's. Just realised the time stamp back in May Oh well
  2. Hi Boom I'm not too sure but it cant be any worse I have been using my unhooking mat for the last 2 month's, which is ok so I guessed this chair would be similar and the Anglers Afloat guys review it here Crazy Creek III Chair If you can wait I will let you know
  3. Hi Ken apparently its not illegal to buy a still here in the U.K. but it is illegal if you use one Try here for an Ornamental Copper Still, but only for show mind
  4. I have been looking at getting a more comfy chair than the bog standard ones that come with your yak's, numb bum syndrome, I noticed that the guys on Anglers Afloat mention this chair to be quite good, I tried the U.S. site but they quoted me just as much postage as the chair itself plus the tax you would pay here on it also. Just bought one from H2O Kayaks on Ebay for £36 all in so thought I would share it in case anyone else has been looking to get one, I have searched all over but have found only these to be selling it over here. Crazy Creek III Kayak Chair

  16. Hi Trout I have not done too much fishing on our coastline, but I believe Blackpool from the north pier up to fleetwood is good, not so sure about the Barrow end, others I have been told are Knot end, Glasson Estuary, Heysham power station I think its the North Wall, I fished Heysham Village off the back of the church had 4 bass mainly schoolies and a small whiting but is good sport with the lures or with the Beach caster, Morecambe Jetti behind the old Midland hotel, Arnside and Sandside estuaries, If you get an Ordnance Survey map they generally show any gullies and features at low tide so you can pin point some likely looking spots, thats the best I can do, hope it helps, Scott....
  17. Hi Sam I do a bit of Barbel fishing and was told by a friend to use Ewe nuts which is probably near enough identical to what you have, as it was a lot more economical than the brand name particles on the high street, I bought a bag from a farm store for about £5 for 20kg, but so far I haven't used it as it was bought on impulse and once I thought about it I wasn't sure if they would be ok to use as a ground bait as the content's I wasn't sure about. Its used as a digestive and breeding supplement with various protein and vitamin's. Now looking at your post got me thinking so I did a quick search and found this, Ewe Nut's Still not too sure myself, bit more searching to be done for me, hope this helps Scott....
  18. Old Peculiar for me, tastes better on draught, but no one does it our way only odd place in the Lakes, Mary Anne Special, Monteith's Summer Ale, Kilkenny.
  19. Fox do a Carbon Coated 30lb wire, which I have just started using it doesn't kink as much as normal wire, but is a bit more expensive.
  20. Richi what are the new palm boots called, I have just got some Yak salopettes and need some boots to go with them, thinking about a drysuit but until then will need some boots, thanks, Scott.....
  21. My dad's side have lived in the same town for 280 years and only strayed 4 miles for one generation, yet my mum's side consisted of Mariner's so are spread all over, and to say its hard to trace is an understatement, its all very fulfilling once you start to find what your ancestors used to do, most of my dad's side all had big families 14 children some generation's, there was no coronation street then!
  22. Chester your right it isnt easy unless you have an unusual name if your name is Smith, Jones your in for some hard work, there are ways to cross reference on the census to make sure your on the right track, but they only go back to 1841 then your into Parish records that are mostly in original form and hand written which are very hard to read, some have been trans-scripted into book form but not 100%, there is a lot of cross referencing to be done and local library's have some helpful people, another option is to get a researcher to confirm your results once you hit a dead end. Also a lot of people would lie about their age on a wedding certificate as proof wasn't needed so there is lots to take into account when you get back to 1800's, the IGN the mormons did and are on Micro fiche in local librarys free to search are a good cross reference and a good way to start.
