  3. Hi, I will be travelling around Sri Lanka and India early in the New Year and while not primarily a Fishing Holiday I am going to try and get in as much as possible or allowed. I plan on doing whatever type of fishing I get an opportunity to Salt, Fresh, Bait and Lure, For which I have decided on a Shimano Exage 330 Travel Rod which brings me to my question does any body have any recommendations on a Reel to go with it that would cover most if not all of any circumstances I might find myself in. Thanks in Advance Dave
  4. Try Maggots on the hook and feeding a few every couple of minutes. Works for me every time on the canal where I am

  7. I see their are Two Supermarkets close by so be prepared to lose a lot of lures unless you go heavy on the braid as your canal is probably littered with loads of shopping trolleys. I dont even bother lure fishing any more where I am as it seemed a bit unsportly hauling in Jacks on 50lb braid
  8. Can anybody tell me if you could use Mackerel feathers for pike or perch and would size 6/0 barbed be big enough

  14. I Pay £2.60 for a pint of maggots from my local tackle shop does this sound reasonable considering I live in London and would expect to pay more, How about the rest of the country?
  15. Not a freshwater book but it does touch on it The Unnatural History of the Sea (the past and future of humanity and fishing) By Professor Callum Roberts. Absolutely fascinating reading anybody remotely intrested in the relationship between man and fish through the ages must read this book IMO.
  16. Hi Charley As far as I am aware there is a fly only trout lake in Walthamstow the one opposite the main entrance. Do you flyfish on the Regents as I have been thinking of giving it a go myself but wouldnt know where to start. Dave

  19. Hi All I had a Perch yesterday that was just shy of 3 lb that put up one hell of a fight. I just usually only catch tiddlers of several species using maggots. So I would like to try targeting the bigger Perch in the pond and would really appreciate any advice on rigs. There are no Pike in the water. Thanks in advance Dave
