  1. SPAS can be had on a section 1 FAC, main use is practical shotgun, but hey can also be had for pest control. Think the folding stock version had to have an extension on the barrel to get around the overal length rule. Slugs are also legal for practical shotgun use. Personaly not bothered about semis, cant afford the extra ammo
  2. I would love to go there one year and take the tent, have heard rumours of a rather long bar in the beer tent
  3. This from a police training manual. "The Highways Act 1980, s 161 provides that a person is guilty of an offence if, without lawful authority or excuse, he discharges any firearm within 50 feet from the centre of any highway which consists of or comprises a carriageway, and in consequence thereof a user of the highway is injured, interrupted or endangered. It is important to remember that the discharge is not prohibited in itself. It must also be proved that an injury to someone, or that someone’s passage was interrupted or interfered with (for example being forced to make a detour) or that someone was endangered, i.e., put in danger of injury. ‘Highway’ for the purposes of this section is restricted to a public right of way for the passage of vehicles; consequently it does not include footpaths, cycle tracks, bridleways, or cattle tracks. The offence is not committed if the person discharging the firearm has a lawful authority or excuse for doing so, as where the discharge occurred during a clay pigeon shoot which involved shooting down the field and away from the highway." Also worth noting that footpaths are owned by the landowner, so if you have permission to be there by the owner you can carry a firearm. If you haven't got permission think you can be done with armed trespass. Also a firearm (inc air rifle) is classed as laoded if the mag has rounds in it, even if the mags in your pocket. Jon

  8. If all the same price I would try any, but really would love to try zander for some strange reason. I do hunt with firearms and eat what I kill, planing a fishing / shooting / camping weekend where squirrel at least will be on the menu

    Help!

Best thing to do is go and have a play in a shop. In the end most cameras are excellent, with differences that are often subjective. Jessops often have models on clearance that are being replaced with something only slightly upgraded, well worth keeping an eye on them. Anything over 4 mega pixel is good, its not necessary to go for the camera with the highest count.
  11. How much data are you backing up? I dont bother doing my os, just documents and photos. Currently 2 dvds, burn a fresh set evey month and take them to my parents. I burn th entire catalogue each time, in the event of a problem with the previous months, I can get at the one before that (keep a couple of months). This way you get around having to worry about the life expectancy of the disks, and as new data storage types come out you get more storage. Obviously not workable with hudge amounts of data but works for smaller amounts <10gig.
  12. Quiet a bit of Tonbridge angling clubs waters can be fished day ticket, gives the option to try before joining. http://www.tonbridge-angling.co.uk/

    Air Rifle

I use a combro cb-625 chrono, they only cost £35 and the after sales service is excellent. Shops dont need a range to chrono an air rifle, just the equipment and a backstop. www.airgunbbs.com is worth a look. Theres a couple of them lurking here, including a famous one with a bottom problem
  14. If your thinking of getting a dslr go to a shop and have a play. I had decided on a pentax then used one and found its ergonomics didnt suit me, also tried the canon, but ended up wit h D70.
  15. I picked up a copy yesterday and liked it so much I subscribed. Especially like the look of the series on lightweight angling by Chirs Leibbrandt.
  16. My pet air rifle is a Falcon raptor lighthunter in .22. I also shoot shotguns and a .22 LR semi. I did attend the Bisley open day earlir on in the year, and had a go at a couple of 7.62 and a .303 sniper rifle. Am now looking for a club to shoot fullbore at, so monthly trips yo Bisley might be on the cards. Jon
  17. click subscriptions in the menu left side, its the fox box offer.
  18. Decided to buy a fishing mag today, whilst heading to the pub for breakfast. Picked up a copy of southern angler (no cream flow down here) and they are announcing a new mag they are releasing called total course fishing. First issue has 100m of power plus on it, but subscribe for a year and you get a fox f-box system thingy thats meant to be worth £30ish. LINKY for info. Was thinking of subscribing, but think I will just get the line. subsciption is just under £40
  19. I just joined a local club solely to float fish on the Medway, they also have a bit of the Eden nearby that I want to look at. I tend to carry minimal kit, most of its stashed in my waistcoat, so its convenient to stick a few bits in the car and go. I dont catch any monsters but enjoy being out and about watching nature, dont tend to see many people when I am out but the anglers come across as friendly people. Went out last Sunday and spent most of the evenin wtching the moorhens and kingfishers, had a great time.
  20. The maps for the club I am in are actually rather good. Heres the electronic version. http://www.tonbridge-angling.co.uk/map01.htm
  21. Having the OS ref of the start and end of a stretch would be handy. Legally dont think they are allowed to copy bits of map direct from the OS maps, as its probably against copyright
  22. I would epect to et transport free (if its a coach), but if the farm charges for entry what other option ist here?
  23. Yep thats it. If I had to choose between spending £400 on MS office or the free one, I know what I would do. Its opensource so theres loads of info on it, have a look at the suppport page.
  24. After reading some bits on the openoffice forums, I think it does support links in pdf. http://www.openoffice.org/ Might be worth having a read of the faqs or posting in their forums.
