  1. I live, breathe, work, eat, s***, and sleep fishing. Everything I do centres around it. It may be sad, but I certainly don't feel it.
  2. www.billyclarke.co.uk, I know he has the Browning ones.
  3. Breed them to be poisonous to humans, but not other fish. Bound to be possible.
  4. http://www.thelureshack.com/lureshack_flash.html I got some about a month ago
  5. Numpties(that's bad angling for all you numpties) !!! Foreign nationals and the government that lets them do what they want to do in this country (Imagine doing whatever the hell we wanted to in their countries!!!) Antis Nothing more than terrorists, and what happens to them???
  6. Oooooohhhhhh, yes, yes, yessss. That particular one (not just sold in Towsure) is the one I have, can't fault it.
  7. Forgot about the humble Vibrax, size 4 or 5. ! !!!!!!Bright!!!!!
  8. I'm out at least fifty times a year in the bivvy/tent, for two day sessions at a time. I have fished in some really bad weather, so value good kit. These are the best pegs http://www.ukcamping.co.uk/shopscr711.html http://www.towsure.com/default.asp?s=pegs and these are by far and away the best mallets. For god's sake do not buy one with a hollow steel shaft, it'll just bend. Towsure are good to deal with, and have a brilliant range of kit. http://www.towsure.com/product.asp?p=1970
  9. I haven't had wellies since I was a size 12, some 16 years ago. I now have a pair of Snowbee thigh waders which are 14's, but they are anything but comfortable. I'd love wading trousers, and wading boots, but there's more hope of me catching a 5lb Roach.
  10. Managed to come across one yesterday, but I didn't need it, so of course I bought it. I was on my way to fishing anyway, so I tried it out. Have to say I am shocked at the action and quality for the price. It's light, plays fish well (had a few Hybrids to about 2lb), and feels "right". Will do as a standby, or fishing a different line. I would have been pleased with it at full price, but at under £23, it's definitely the bargain of the year.
  11. Unfortunately I'm between a 13 and a 14. American size 14 always fits the best, which should be a UK 13, but for me it doesn't work like that. Places like www.walktall.co.uk do my size, but not always the type of footwear I'm looking for. It's one of the reasons I had to give up hiking, I just couldn't get the boots anymore.
  12. Fox Chubby Shads, I swear it's the tail. The Roach, and Green Mackerel having worked the best. http://www.billyclarke.co.uk/catalog/index...p;filter_id=236 Cubby Mini Mites have had me more fish, only not just as big, I got them here. http://www.thelureshack.com/lureshack_flash.html
  13. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...requestid=39787 These are what I'm using at the mo'. They don't cost that much, shipping is cheap, but you'll have a cracking boot that's actually designed for fishing. I've many years hiking experience behind me, so I know the value of good footwear. There are plenty of this type of boot available here, but so far as I've seen they all have their niggles. A good pair of hiking boots good often be as good, but I went for these as they are easier to clean. It depends if you are mobile or static, which type to choose. Skee-Tex Moon boots are excellent for sitting in all day, I just can't get a pair in my size.
  14. Newt, The attributes you've described are the first things I look at when choosing a rod, the looks come way down the list actually. When I've gathered all the info I need on all the rods, then, and only then, will I look at cosmetics, the rings to me are one of the most important parts. It's no different for me when choosing a car. I look for the car best suited, first on reliability, then practicality, looks again are way down the list. As for your last point on finish and colour, you should really take a look around some of the shops here. Some rods beggar belief, at the colour schemes, which I can only assume are aimed at kids. In fact it's only now with companies like Fox and Shimano, that a £50 rod looks the same as a rod twice the price. I've had some rough looking bits of tackle over the years that have served me well, but now that I can afford it, I prefer to spend it on something I like.
  15. The best attribute you can have in fishing is confidence. Without it you are lost. If what you have pleases you, and helps you want to fish, then that can be no bad thing. There are worse things to spend your money on!! Sounds like you have your mind made up anyway, so just go for it. I'd also like to add that I am actually a fan of the Normark rods, I think they have made some excellent pieces of kit over the years, I just feel that they have lost something in the last couple of years, but I don't know what. Anybody read AT this week? Keith Arthur has been talking about the discrepancies in real world prices = RRP. To my mind, RRP is just hype, trying to make it out to be a bargain. He rightly points out that the manufactures should be reported to Trading Standards. The RRP of the Normark is just unreal, is there any need for it, and would somebody actually pay that? Right, NOW I understand!!!!!
  16. You are always better going for the one you actually want yourself, you'll hate yourself, and the said item, if you don't. If there's not much difference in price, then what are you waiting for? As for weight, the difference may seem big, couple of ounces, but it's all about balance, so depends as much on the reel you are going to be using. Not many people try the rod and reel together before buying, and also, when considering trotting, the reel seat needs to be just right. You really have got to go for the one that you want, and that'll suit the style of fishing you'll be doing. The Shimano is built to fill as many gaps as possible, because remember, most will be sold for the stew ponds, targeting carp. I find mine perfect for Tench, Roach, Perch, and I love trotting with it too. But I still say it's the best looking rod out there.
  17. I have a few in the range, including this one (Barbel Multi-tip is on it's way) and I try alot before I buy. They are nothing short of amazing, everything about them is quality, and they would be much, much cheaper than the Normark. I think you should at least see and feel one before making any decisions.
  18. Just buy a Shimano Antares AX, double length as well, less than the Normark, and to my mind much, much better looking.
  19. I would try to get the depths around the whole pool. If you use the right equipment you'll find out where all the snags are, and any other interesting features. When you know all that, make your choice of what to go after, based on where those fish tend to inhabit around such areas.
  20. For me, it's down to the methods, as much as the fish. Pike on a fly rod - never a better method for this fish Roach on a waggler - one method, one species...rest of my life..?? Bream on a slider and then there's Pollack off the rocks. Spending the day covering maybe a mile or two of rocky coastline, whatever the method, fly, float, bomb (handline on occasion), just great sport, and unlike the other three (probably) tastes amazing.
  21. Any of the light, "Fast Action" float rods will fit the bill.
  22. I remember Bob Nudd, and that freak Nick Fisher, fishing there for "Screaming Reels". I would say it's private, maybe residents only?
  23. I think there are way too many variables to know if a bait is going to be the next big thing. Besides, if they did invent the miracle, catch all bait, it would then be called catching, and not fishing. I'll stick to fishing thank you very much all the same.
