  1. Hello all I hope you can help. I've been using a couple of Wilson Avon quiver tips and sometimes the Wilson Barbel quiver in a strong river. Been using these rods for 7 years at least. Use 4000 size reels. They have done me proud but the cork is working loose and the tips are starting to split (the bit that goes in to the rod section). The cheapo rod bags are destroyed, which is a pain. I usually fish the feeder. Often need 2oz to hold with no groundbait. I like a quiver rod between 11 and 12ft for the Broads. Happy to spend £100 a rod more or less. Anyone got any favourites or rods they could recommend? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  2. Blimey that's the shinniest tinny i've ever seen! Nice boat, should fly along. Have fun with her. BTW, the best outboards are Yamaha. Full stop, period, end of story.
  3. Crikey, I've never seen such fat aweful looking stockie brownies! Wild river fish look like this:
  4. Does anyone listen to Keith Arthur on Talksport radio? God it's on at an unearthly hour. The other weekend I was plugged in to it and there was a good and lengthy debate about Lee Kerry's "qualification". Apparently the "winner" abdicated and couldn't fish the final. Anyway Lee is in and i'm sure he will fish his nut's off. I've had a hunt round the 'nurd and can't find any prices. I think Lee will be an outsider but there are fifteen fishing in a 15 horse race. Any advice as to where to lay a bet on him at a decent price would be welcomed. Thank You.
  5. I've used breathables for the last 5 years. In summary such items are in breach of the trade descriptions act. All are utterly useless and in an honest world they would have to be re-branded "thoroughly leakable waders". More details: I fish a fair bit for trout. "breathables" are lightweight and right for the job according to the "tin". Friends have expensive Simms ones. They leak, "but it isn't that bad and you hardly notice after a while". I buy Vision. After a week I'm pleased. Then I kneel down and they leak. I repair them. This is a lenghty process. You turn them inside out fill them with a hose, mark the hole. dry them out and repair them. Off to the river ..... yup..... they leak. Hang on these are "Vision Extreme" and supposed to be good. Return direct to Vision. I asked my dealer. They had so many returns they said It might be better to return them myself... cheeky. Vision offer me a pair of "Flywater" at half price. Why not, i'll have some of that. These will be better. After a week i'm pleased. Then I kneel down and they leak................. I despair. Phone the lads, Scierra, Ron Thompson, Simms (again). What should I buy? Apart from one guy (a £1aire) who said ORVIS, the rest said thin 3mm neoprene or OCEAN old fashioneds - they never leak!!! Breathables will be even worse in salt water as most are not Deet approved. From my experience they are a complete waste of money.
  6. Signed Bob. I am no 209. I'd like to add a more detailed post later.
  7. You are very welcome to the information Elton. No problem, anytime, just ask. I'll be fishing somewhere is Suffolk tomorrow. Would you like me to post a report under this thread or perhaps you'd prefer I send it to your personal e-mail address?
  8. Elton, I had a resonable night at Dunwich on Sunday (14th), although the fish were a bit small. Dunwich report
  9. Thanks for that Newt, fingers crossed.
  10. Hi Guy's, Just a quick introduction. Anybody fish the Norfolk/Suffolk Broads for pike? I'm going to try and give it a good go this year. I used to fish Ormsby and Filby a fair bit and had them up to 27lb. Gave it up for a few years due to family and other commitments. Had a few sessions in my boat last year on the Norwich stretch of the Yare and further up at Brundall. Also the Ant at Irstead and Stalham, didn't get anything too big the largest was 17lb 4 oz at Wroxham. I was out on the Bure at Horning today just took the whip and caught a few nice roach. Autumn is in the air and it won't be long before I start piking, as soon as the boat traffic dies a bit more. I'd love to hear from any posters who fish the broads, especially pikers. Cheers all.
  11. Thanks for the report. Enjoyable read. Cheers.
  12. Yabbadabbadoh! Someone on AnglersNet that actually tore himself away from his 'pooter and went fishing! Congratulations Glen, and thanks for the pictures. Nice Macks well done.
  13. --> QUOTE(Norm B @ Aug 22 2006, 01:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Some good news for a change, perhaps the NFSA or SACN would like to write a letter to the CEO of Waitrose congratulating him/her on this. ...and also write to their membership asking them to buy fish from Waitrose and support a responsible supermarket.
  14. It's definately a net mark.
