  1. as quoted by glennk """Sadly Paul I now believe the days of charter fishing as you know it are all but over. The amount of anglers who will be willing to pay you £50 a trip to be allowed to take a couple of fish will be low.""" this will not only apply to paul on sea otter, but each and every charter skipper / guide etc who makes his/ her living from taking people to sea to catch fish seems to me like certain people have really opened a whole word of sh##e for anyone involved in sea angling in a while, whoever started these proceedings on behalf of the uk's r s a can sit back and put their feet up safe in the knowledge that they and they alone have completely fu##ed the british sea angler congratulations to who ever you are, you have done an absolutley stunning job and and we sit here in awe at your stupidity and wonder just which direction you will lead us next?????????????????????????????????? con fu##ing gratulations :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

    Cod Worms!

hi northsea i always bleed the fish out to keep the flesh clean ( and it sweetens it up a bit to do this, first catch your fish, 2nd knock it on the head enough to stun it ( dont cave its head in or it will be dead anyway and wont work) 3rd when it is still alive but unconcious, open the gill cover up and nip thru one of the gills, you will see what happens,( open forum and the like ( best not to go into the details ) and when it comes to filleting, you wont get the little veins full of blood and when cooked the meat is pure white, without any dark lines in it( ie veins) some of the cod i had @ the weekend were riddled with worms mainly in the belly flap of the fillet, but there were quite a few in the top side of the fillet also hope this helps krysb

    Cod Worms!

id say they are pretty muich everywhere, its not just cod try gutting mackeral , whiting , pollock, ling some of the mackeral weve had this year have balls of worms in the gut apparantly the worms move throught the belly cavity post mortem?? into the fillets, where they are easy to spot as they have a browny tint to them i always knock em on the head to stun them 1st, then bleed em out to keep the fillets clean, then gut within 15mins of capture when filleted, just pick em out with the point of a knife and carry on as above posts regarding freezing etc the area i fish is east coast but have had worms all over the south coast as well as the north west krysb
  4. is that because the weather or the below issue?? has he had the head gasket problem sorted yet ? see link http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/show...ad.php?t=123594
  5. N/E Folks?? having spent the first 22yrs of my life living and fishing no more than 5 miles away from yourself ( and probably on the same marks ), i find that comment quite amusing it has to be said that the NE folks actually enjoy what ever form of angling they undertake, without feeling the need to whine about not catching anything, it must be something in the water, but life seems much easier up here crispy????? by the way today is far from manic, hence spending too much time lokking at these stupid forums
  6. Are you really as obnoxious and immature as you come across?? The cod fishing seems to be looking better at present than it has done for a long time now, and this is not just at WHITBY!!!!! see the reports of anglers all over your south coast areas, catching plenty of good fish ( not just cod ) and tell me there is no fish to catch. do you really think the other 7750 miles of coastline have no fish on them????? BO##OCKS and as for your little playground sentences like "" screw whitby"" my little lad has more grown up things to say isnt it about time you just stopped whining and winding people up?? its people like you that are causing most of these scare stories like ""THERES NO FISH LEFT"", take a look at the catch reports and write about something that actually interests ANGLERS, not disheartens them
  7. fully agree ron plenty of fish in the north sea if you really want to get yourself off the keyboard and go fishing see http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/forum/no...t-on-tuesday/0/ http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/forum/no...ray-charters/0/ http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/forum/no...day-9th-june/0/ try any of the whitby boats, you wont see people moaning and groaning about the lack of fish ps dont forget the charter skippers festival starting 27th june 5k 1st place for the biggest fish over 3 weeks see http://www.wcsa.co.uk for details krysb
  8. if the weather hold up, might have a poke round a few bits of scrap over slack, if that fails going to have a go couple of miles off on the rough. might see you out there cheers krys
  9. Tell me about it Really struggled at the weekend krysb
  10. hi mate was that you that come along side malc in the orkney?? with some bonny cod on board? i crew for malc on sea spray, so hopefully see you out there again soon we struggled for a few, but the tides seemed really odd? one minute there was nowt, then it came barreling through, only to die 2 1/2 hrs before it was due to. we tried all manner of baits, but none seemed to fish that well. must be the scent trail of 400 hooks going in at the same time that makes the difference. anyway, hopefully off this weekend to try something different. cheers krysb
  11. We were out on sat + sunday off robin hoods bay and the fish do look like they have dissapeared. only had a few with the biggest touching 6lb tried just about every bait known but no favotite came to lite it was bl**dy hard work never mind, back out this weekend to try something different cheers krysb
  12. It's designed to avoid 'fillet and release'! get on e bay and buy, buy, buy!! got to be a quick and easy way to save fish?? should be spot on for the conservationists though.

    Chieftain

stick to your original plan m8 and concentrate on the inshore trips as this year it has been fishing its n**s off i am out nearly every weekend ( weather permitting ) and ""touch wood"" have had a good feed to take home to the family on every occasion also had the benefit of sleeping in my own bed and stuffing my face with good fish and chips from the chippy. try malc on sea spray , paul on sea otter or any other wcsa skipper cheers
  14. Boat : Sea Spray Skipper : Malc Pitman Results : very good After reading through all the posts last week regarding the fantastic cod fishing off whitby at present, took a trip with the above boat. Plenty of good sized cod / codlings up to approx 7--9 lbs along with some lovely ling up to 17.5lb We caught a lot of small codlings which all went back to live another day. Nearly all fish were taken on a fladen 200g single pirk with only the odd one taken on shads, big mackerel baits were the order of the day for the ling. Took home plenty of fillets to restock the freezer ( family of 4 who love their fish ) so please no comments ref taking fish home. All the boats are having a good time at the moment, and the skippers are doing what they do best by finding fish for all their customers who pay to catch fish for both pleasure and the freezer. Dont forget the Whitby Skippers July Festival starts on the 1st of July which should throw up some cracking fish if the weather co-operates. You can get details from the sites below. www.wcsa.co.uk or www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk or by contacting any of the skippers advertising. cheers krysb
  15. if you have transport, givr a guy called chris fyson a ring he runs the lady nicola out of boston for full day trips which is a big 40ft charter boat ( fully coded ) he also has plenty of hire gear on board and he does some stunning bacon butties and coffee all day. he catches plenty of tope rays mackeral etc his number is 07831 692628 if you need any more info, just post again cheers krysb
  16. toerag we find they definately enjoy a good feed of cod / ling / pollock as i have had many decent fish reduced by 1/2 upon arrival at the surface they accidently get caught in the salmon nets but i have never thought id possibly get a run when uptiding this close in especially at this time of year the water was filthy with visibility of approx 6 inches it really took off as i was stood at the bow reeling in, and i got dragged straight down the side of the wheelhouse, straight off the step down, and half way along the back of the boat. in this time it must have done 150 m down tide. obviously my powerstix / 535 combination does not have the backbone for porgie bashing!!!!! krysb
  17. hi dave. we were out agian for the past two weeks with malc on sea spray last sat we were uptiding off whitby when i hit into a decent size cod. just started to get it in when i was pulled the full length of the boat by something which got hold of my cod and wouldnt let go took approx 150 m straight off reel then it was gone. deffo not a seal as no sign of them all day and also the rod was really thumping and the angle of line was going down in the water not coming up. nothing even popped its head up to eat its meal, when the line gave there must have been at least 3m of extremley frayed 30lb mon above where the rig used to be. ( mine & malcs personal opinion deffo porgie of bloody big tope ) as weve never seen a seal go that fast or with that much power. we were only 1/2 mile off at the time, and seeing what happened last year when you and norm b were on it was exactly the same scenario. also that day fins were spotted by others off the wall ( same location as last year ) so maybe they have arrived ( shown themselves ) a little bit earlier this year are you going to have a go again this year, and if so hope to see you soon cheers krysb

  19. theres also a boat which runs out of boston called lady nicola 39ft cygnus contact details are chris fyson 07831 692628 the boat is moved to grimsby for the winter season targeting cod in the humber etc i have had tope to 52lb during the summer and also thornbacks / smoothies and bass hope this helps
  20. basshead07 forgot to mention you could also try up the hoeford creek which is on the gosport road. park in pub car park and walk down the side of the creek 1/2 way down is a barge and aconcrete breakwater / crossover with a small gap in th middle. has been known for some good mulett in there if you cross the creek you walk down the opposite bank towards the mouth and follow the shoreline round, you can fish off the grass banks which puts you 60m from the main channel, i have had bass to over 8s ther on peeler and flatties to just on 3s hope this helps, but as i say i have not fished these areas for 5--6 yrs ish try rovers tackle shop in fareham for up to date info
  21. the water in the bottom end of the river is only 5--6 ft approx @ top of tide. floats or freelined baits are the way forward as the fish seem mainly to be on the surface or grazing on the banks these fish can be followed ( or could be if they are still there) approx 1.5mile up river to approx where sainsburys is on the flood protection walls. i caugh mostly on the flood and on slack as on the ebb the waters fairly flies out of the river at low water slack these fish will be seen swimming around in the old mill pool on the other side of the roadbridge ps some times the bass and mullett go through the smaller corrugated tunnel under tyhe road especially when the water is running hard as it is just out of the main flow. hope this helps as i have not fished it for years now and do all of my fishing out of whitby on the east coast good luck
  22. used to live in fareham nr portsmouth caught mullett to 6.5lb in the mill pond opposite the delme arms pub where the creek meets the river wallington (bread / macky flakes) also had bass to 9lb on live prawns ( caught in shrimp net along side of said bridge ) when tide pushes back over the lip into the roadbridge. used to be some lovely flatties there but friends said these have all been netted for pot bait????????
