Alan, have you enlightened Gerry to the fact you aint a scouser?.    :)

the two of you are sacked for lack of observation.

:D

I just looked at it as being another demonstration of his opinion forming based upon inaccurate fact, inaccurately presented. But I sort of got used to that.

As for lack of observation - I accept your point totally. The only thing I saw yesterday was red mist brought on by someone seemingly hell-bent on mischief making. It must have been, as each argument they put forward leaked like a colander -as opposed to mine leaking like a sieve!

By the way, I've lived in Liverpool for 2 years, but my family roots are most definitely in Kent.

Hi Graham, nice to hear from you again

I would be very interested to hear what this angling ethos is that I so perfectly illustrated.

For the record I fish for salmon (100% catch and release) Brown trout (100% catch and release)Pike and Perch (100% catch and release) and stocked rainbows (90%+ catch and release)For your ethos to be in a different galaxy to mine you must be killing all of the mullet you catch, or maybe you don't catch any!

I see that most of the contributors who are so violently opposed to the CA say that they don't want to be "tarred with the same brush" as foxhunters. I find this denial that they too hunt for sport to be a touch dishonest and somewhat hypocritical.

The foxhunters tried it by saying they only hunted as a form of pest control, or as a service to the farmer - no-one believed them either!

Any angler who states that he does no harm to the fish he catches either does not catch any or is in some form of denial, or maybe the fish enjoy being caught (the foxhunters tried that one as well!)

Regards

Dave Olley

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

I apologise. I'll not refer to you as a scouser again, but it does explain why you're merely witless.

From the PAC website - May 16th 2002

http://www.pacgb.co.uk/news/newsarchive5.html:

"The byelaw proposal seeking to outlaw the use of live and dead freshwater fish and eels in 14 named lakes in Cumbria has now been passed on to the Deparment for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs. The National Anglers' Alliance (NAA - the representative body for all anglers in this country) has written to the Countryside Minister, Elliot Morley, summarising anglers' objections to these proposals and stressing the depth of our opposition to them. The backing of the NAA not only carries much greater weight than a PAC submission in isolation, but also maximises our voice, and of course we fully support the content of their submission."

DEFRA, however, chose to count individual letters of complaint and take no account of how many anglers were represented by the submission of the NAA - or any other group.

But I sort of got used to that.

I guess with your penchant for bull, you'd have to.

All you've done so far is delivered truck loads of bull manure posing as rational argument - rather like an African dictator. Corrupt and malignant.

Rather shows your true colours.

The fact is that however carefully you return your fish, some will be permanently harmed and some will die as a result of being caught.

Dave

I think you are out of touch with modern freshwater 'specialist' angling.

I accept that some may die as a s a result of being caught, and some may be permanently harmed, but many individual fish are recognisable, and their survival, and growth (over periods of years), following capture after capture is well known and documented. They even survive being handled, weighed and photographed on many occasions.

You may not like that sort of approach to angling, but many do.

All I have asked for has been rational argument.

Argyll has signally failed to deliver that - and rather than admit being wrong, he resorted to making implied accusations as to my motives.

I responded with personal abuse - the choice of words I regret, although as you can see from Argyll's latest cultured offering, I have no reason to withdraw their sentiment.

'The fact is that however carefully you return your fish, some will be permanently harmed and some will die as a result of being caught.'

Then

'I accept that some may die as a s a result of being caught, and some may be permanently harmed,'

Then

'You may not like that sort of approach to angling, but many do.'

Eh??
