There's a place here

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?cli...&multimap.y=268

opposite Shipmoor Point to the west of Chesters Hill, where the seine netters used to avoid because of a 'fastening', a feature on the bottom that would snag the net.

Boat fishermen tell me it is always somewhere you can catch a Bass close in.

About half an hour walk from the car park.

Thanks Jim, but the truth is you can catch bass close in along the whole beach, or are you talking about in the Fleet?

You should know that there is no angling allowed in the Fleet at that point.

As for catching Bass all along the beach. You wouldn't think so, reading this thread!

Keep it up. Keeps people away!

Ah Jim you assume that I know the marks, although I grew up in Doset and consider it my home I've never fished east of Abbotsbury, have no idea of the marks you mention and have never fished in the fleet! but out of interest who controls the fishing there?

As for bass all along the beach, most people cast right over them! They're catching mackerel in Torquay at the moment, anyone tried feathering yet? how about a prize for the first chesil mackerel?!!

Morning, Im down abbs this w-end later than usual, we normally fish mid Jan for the small chance of a cod but could still happen . Has anyone been out recently i knoe it can fish different from tide to tide but was curious

Arron

Fished abbs last Satarday night with a m8.We fished from 5pm till 11pm.Not a bite between us.We tried all baits at different distances. Not even the Dogs were showing :(

The sea was calm with a light North wind blowing.I think everywhere round this area is fishing the same at the moment.Even the Flounders have gone from Poole Harbour.

Roll on April :yeah:

it needs a good sw blowout
