River Ebro fishing holidays

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend a decent guide/fishing holiday on the River Ebro for the family?

I'd be doing the fishing, and maybe my dad too, but my mum wouldn't want to so they'd need to be able to do something different.

Anyone have any experience or can recommend anyone?

Thanks

Dan

Beware Dan that the Ebro is famed for its big carp and its very big Cats - and when I say big, I mean BIG big.

Your tackle will need to be up to the job, and personally I would recommend a water that is a little less demanding first, and then consider the more challenging waters!

Email me if you want any advice, or I'm sure many on here will be able to help - budgie in particular.

How do you follow that!!

Any way back to the Ebro You could of course go for a package holiday in Salou or Cambrils (I have been to worse resorts) and I believe there are guides running day trips to the Ebre (its only 50 klicks), out of the resorts (I helped out guiding with one a few years back). This would solve the problem of your mum as she could have her days by the pool, beach, Universal Studios Port Aventura etc.

If that does not interest you I believe there is a guide based out of Ampolla a small beach resort just near the Delta and offers a bit more of a holiday than Mequinenza.

After a certain age, if you don't wake up aching in every joint, you are probably dead.

I went to the lower Ebro (nearer the sea) a few years back and that's deffinately worth fishing for the cats (and was much less busy than the more famous upper areas). It is quite easy to get to as a day trip and you can base yourself on the coast to keep your mum happy.

Check out the following website for additional info - it's a friends website with an EBRO trip report and guiding details (which may still be up to date)

Hi Dan,several have allready mentioned it but if you want a "family" holiday as well as some fishing then the lower Ebro would be better. The fishing is great around Mequinenza with certainly the biggest fish there but not a great deal for the family to do!

Most of my fishing and all of my guiding on the Ebro was in the Mequinenza area so cant really tell you a lot about services on the Delta and lower Ebro.Plenty of them these days though so a quick search on the web should turn up plenty of choice.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!
