Decent and honorable job in Iraq. Well done!

Absolutely.

I wouldn't expect our lads to do anything less.

However, whether they should have been sent there in the first place, and whether they had the support that they should have had (in terms of equipment) are two big question marks.

It just highlights the contrast between the courage and professionalism of our armed forces and the ineptness of our political "leaders".

Major and Bush snr. started the ball rolling by not fiishing the job at the first attempt.

Blair sent us in because he genuinely believed that it was the right thing to do. That he had to blag things to get it through parliament is something else entirely and he thinks it isn't for us to judge him, it's God. The arrogance of the smug tw*t. As a leader of the opposition he got elected because he wasn't a Tory. In the run-up to the election which saw 'New' Labour in, it was impossible to get a straight answer to any programme costings - hardly surprising when Mandelson and Brown were pulling the strings. So tell me...why are they levelling the same criticism of Cameron and the Torries? Political expedient, perhaps? No. Just the number of Labour marginal MP's worrying about their job prospects.

Well as far as a military campaign goes it a was not a disaster, far from it, if the goal was to unseat a murderous tyrant then that was achieved, irrespective of the motives of Messrs Bush and Blair, however I do think we are judging Blair too harshly, he may not be too every ones taste but he was a man of principle, and I do believe he did actually care about the plight of the Iranian people.

It was the mother of Holy wars, not seen since the crusades, so let's not be too harsh on him and instead support the troops who again did a fantastic job, underlining yet again the Brits are the real hearts and mind soldiers, lets hope they can win through in Afghanistan, a far tougher assignment.

i disagree ,we got rid of a tyrant but let more in ,it was iraq not iran and we accomplished nothing but kill the innocent and our troops as we will in afghanistan and no doubt will elsewhere.

if its a holy war as you suggest we got pummelled and we will wherever we bump into islam you cant kill an idea with bullets even big ones and no matter how many puppets we put in charge they will be ousted ,war only works when you have absolute supremacy! we dont !we sell / give our weapons to anyone and they and the training we give will be used against us.

blair and bush are liers and war criminals and i hope i live long enough for the world to come to its senses and hang them and all their toadies and yes men who stood in the back ground nodding or fabricating lies to back them up .

if i were incharge i would hand them over to the iraqis / afghanistanis and provide the stones to stone them with! its a pity the soldiers haven't the guts to put down their guns and demand repatriation they cannot be so blind they and only they believe without question the ****s that sent them there!

Tehran Iran Iraq I do get confused :wheelchair: , but should know my Iran from my Iraq's, I did visit Tehran way back (RAF) before the New Order, and what a place it is or was!! The western influence was very apparent, in fact Tehran resembled a mini New York rather than a Middle East Islamic City, It seemed then that the country was at odds with itself as to the Western direction the Shah was taking Iran against the huge support the majority had for Islam, and so it proved.

A memory I have was of a woman lying dead in the road by the airport, no one had come to her aid, and it seemed not worth the attention of anyone, even then in Westernised Tehran a women were very much the under-class.
