catty vs. pva bags

which do you tend to use in open water? i know pva bags are good when fishing tight to snags etc. i always thought that if you used a catapult the baits would get intercepted on the way to the lake bed by cruising carp :confused:

if you can group bait with a catty as close as you would get it with a PVA bag, then use your catty!

its just i have spoken to other carpers before now and they've said they like to scatter their baits within their swim to get the carp looking for the bait

If fishing at distance then i use pva bag of bits, and then shoot boilies out with the stick.

I love PVA. I do fire out loose boilies, but usually use a bag of pellet and broken boilies.

 

Some people will say that you should be good enogh to create the same effect by loose feed, but I do what works for me. I'm all for making life that little bit easier

dont you ever think that the bait will be intercepted on the way to the bottom?

If you have that many carp in your swim that they can intercept every piece of bait on the way to the bottom then I would like to know where you fish.

 

Unless you have a massive schoal in your swim I would doubt this would ever happen.

Not really the same as silver fish would in say a downpour of maggotts

 

Allthough in saying that its not uncommon to catch carp on the drop..

ok thanks i only asked the question because my carp rod is only 2lb test curve and cant handle big pva bags. i sometimes use small mesh ones with 7 or 8 boilies in but i think it would be easier to catapult them out in my case.
