Late Saturday I bid for and won two items

 

Yesterday I tried to pay for them. Elected to "pay each seller seperately"

 

First one, no problem - paid and receipted.

 

Tried to pay the second one, a couple of minutes later

 

Clicking on "proceed"

 

Got this stupid message

Sorry, you've hit a speed bump! But please try again.

 

Tried twice more yesterday, and twice more today - same message.

 

Is this happening to anyone else?

I havn't tried to pay for anything today, but I have recieved payments and they went through ok.

never seen that before ,i did bump though into a check out dooda i had never seen before.a buy it now went through an alternative check out system but still via paypal but the unusual bit is its not shown (the entire deal) on my home page!

its still validated by paypal though (it was a phone unlocking service via email) as although the seller said "within 1 working day" after 7 i started a paypal non delivery dooda (that woke him up) and all was well

I just made a purchase and paid through paypal with no obvious problems.

Vagabond - I've been reading on both the US and UK boards about people having this exact same problem and getting the 'speed bump' error. Nothing was announced and the exact cause seems a bit mysterious.

 

My only suggestion is to try clearing all cookies and temp internet files, rebooting, and then trying to pay directly from your paypal account. Just log in and find the transaction then pay.

Thanks Newt - just had a clean-up of cookies etc, but it makes no difference - I am still getting the speed-boggle message.

 

I can't do it from pay-pal direct, 'cos the seller is not on my account yet. Paypal don't know my seller exists - its ebay that are denying me access to paypal.

I've just received a non-e-Bay payment without any problem.

 

With regard to your dilemma, could you contact your seller via e-Bay messaging explaining the problem and ask him to send you a Paypal request for payment? This would take it out of the e-Bay Checkout system which seems to be the problem.

Have solved the immediate problem by sending my seller a cheque - he says a lot of his customers are having trouble with ebay right now.

 

Have been in touch with ebay, who don't seem to be acknowledging the problem yet - their first suggestion was useless, and they haven't replied to my follow-up email.

I wonder is the problem is specific to the seller? I've sold a few bits this week, all paid for with no issues.
