permission to run a fishery

Hi all

i have had the need to complain to the fishery owners about inconsiderate and obstructive parking by anglers on a syndicate water at the end of my sreet. We have complained to the Bailiff but I have now got the contact of the owners and sent them a complaint in writing. The thing is if I get no joy who do I escalate my complaint to? ie who in the council would they need to get permission to run a business to whome I could complain.

I hope it does not come to this but want to be ready if I get no where. Being an angler myself I don’t like doing this but have done so in a respectful way pointing out some suggestions. any advice would be welcome

Its probably not a council issue. More a legal issue of obstruction. Get the local beat copper to ticket a cpl of cars for obstruction they'll rapidly stop parking there.

everytime i catch a fish i'm lucky when i blank i'm a hopeless angler.

One of my pet hates is people who think they own the street. I pay my tax, and feel I am free to park in any road (subject to regs)

And if you don't like it, then move.

the problem is they are often not even cars but big works vans as people come from work. there is alternative parking in an adjacent street where at there are no houses at the end and they could park without causing an obstruction, but i think they like to park in our street as they feel thier vehicles are safe. anyway lets see what comes of my writing to the owner.

"we" have the same problem anglers parking in a garden center car park when a car park is provided for them ,their car park means unlocking 2 gates so the lazy buggers prefer not to get out of their cars.

theres always ignorant people ,an angler left a gas cylinder and a plastic cup full of teabags and fagbutts on the bailiffs box ,fooking cheek i do the anglers a service keeping out non payers not fooking waiting to take their crap home!!!!

I take it the fishery owner has not provided enough parking. You could approach the council as long as the other residents in the road our in agreement, and get them to make it permit holders only. You may end up haveing to park to park in your own street but it would stop unwanted vehicle being left there for days and in the way.

Den I suppose you have never been in a position that you can't park in your own road, trust me it's a pain in the rear and I don't think your comment was called for

If you want to park in your own road, buy a house with a drive. And yes, I have lived without, with a permit system, and still often had to park two roads away (too many car owners, not enough spaces). The simple fact of the matter is that most roads simply don't have enough street space to accommodate the 2.2 cars per household average (or whatever it is).

That said, commercial vehicles being parked in residential roads is a nuisance. The newly moved in next door carpet fitter with 3 large Merc. vans ruined life for my recently widowed mother, who then had to upsticks after over 20 years in the same house in leafy suburbia.

One of my pet hates is people who think that because they have a car, they can park anywhere without consideration for others.

Inconsiderate parking, apart from being an inconvenience to others, can be the cause of accidents, and obstruct emergency vehicles and public transport.

Most clubs I have been a member of, have designated parking for those that fish. If you park anywhere else, then you are in trouble with the club, warned, and if it's repeated, then action is taken. This can mean anything from suspension, a fine, or expulsion.

It's only commonsense (as well as common curtesy) to try and inconvenience the general public as little as possible.

But I'm afraid the 'stuff you I'm alright' attitude is all to common these days.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Myself and the residents don't think we own the street. i have made sensible suggestions to the owners so that we can all coexist peacfully. overall its a well run fishery and i want to have a solution but its the obstruction that is really a worry and BTW we all have drives but its a bit of a bugger if you can't get in and out of it because some gas company van is blocking the way all night as the driver is bivvied up for the night.
