two weeks to get a copy of the cheque? its done at the counter in a second(or at least mine was)maybe it takes two weeks to show up on the screen after clearence

when i sell something i give several quotes from ordinary to next day ,i always get a cert of posting anyway if it doesent arrive (they chose to get it sent cheapest) then its up to them to sort things out with the p.o.

if the vendors have proof of posting (it doesent prove delivery) then they are in the clear as far as i can see :)

quote:

Phone the seller, get contact details here....

i found to my annoyance on 3 occasions ebay had no details of the vendor which i find unbelievable and i was directed to "contact the seller direct" via email

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

Thanks everyone.

The vendor admits in writing to not supplying the goods. There is no argument.

The vendor just won't reply to anything and ebay give me the feeling that they will use some excuse to slide out of it.

BTW the vendors feedback was 100%

Don't worry about the e-bay side of it I had a couple of similar problems, but paying by cheque is the best way to identify someone, after the auction e-mail them and then you get their name and address to send the cheque to, check them out on the BT website, if they are not there then ask them to send you proof just like a bank would i.e a utility bill or similar.

After my first problem when e-bay were not interested either and my solicitor said I didn't really have any claim unless I wanted to go at ebay big time (£96).

after that the only people I would deal with were people who would take cheques and then only if they were willing to comply with my above requirements.

The next time I had any problems I then reclaimed the money through www.moneyclaim.gov.uk, they turned out to be a "proper company" who seemed to just rely on the fact that they could get away with it as it was e-bay.

E-bays/paypals garauntees are not worth a s**t.

treat e-bay purchases as you would any other transaction, you may make and you can't go far wrong.

Couple of problems Chesters1!! Proof of posting is NOT worth the paper it is written on as far as the ROYAL MAIL is concerned!! And the POST OFFICE is NOT the RM!!

T'other is that it ia an OFFENCE in itself to NOT add a contact address to eBay when registering and the address MUST be a current one as well!! In fact as far as I am aware(And I MAY be corrected on this?) You HAVE to add an address when registering with eBay!?

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

just ring them up and if they live close to you then threaten them with a visit and if they live far away just threaten them with a visit from 'your 6 foot tall uncle'. just blag your way through it.

it may not be the right thing to do but when i've just spend £425 on an mp4 player i expect it to be delivered.

always look on the bright side of life
