I've just read a very interesting piece in the "Daily Communist"..

 

Apparently, Charles Jardine used to play professional football for River Plate..

 

He was a feared defender, not so much for his footballing skills, but more for his crunching lunges at the ball, frequently taking out the opposition, breaking their legs. Even the feared Dave Mackay was known to burst into tears if ever Spurs had a "friendly" with them..

 

I'm sure the older ones among us will well remember the "Jardine Snap Tackle."

Can't imagine Dave Mackay in tears at anything.

 

Did see him flatten Billy Bremner once, looked like a complete accident but maybe it was meant to, they were both chasing the ball and Bremner being quite small just stopped dead and Mackay didn't stop at all. Bremner didn't get up for a good five minutes. :D

DOH :D i remember my old man pointing out chopper harris at a milwall match as a kid but all i saw was footballers :confused:

This thread reminds me of the Football scene in the film Kes Brian Glover is the teacher pretending to be Bobby Charlton ,he is crocked by one of the kids and then shouts to him WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE BILLY BREMNER classic :D:D:D
