And for something completely different!

This time into Suffolk, a river where you are as likely to catch a bass as a roach, a mullet or another roach. I've fished it on and off since I was a kid, and I have only ever seen youngsters fishing it for crabs with handlines! Yet it can be good fishing, it really can. No pike though, well, not yet anyway!!

Are you on the Southwold or Walberswick side?

I can smell Adams Broadside from here.

Different floats for different folks!

Peter that is a magnificent sight! I love the old Norfolk Wherry's as well, and have seen many , over the years, It is well documented (on another site) I am not a fan of those diesel guzzling ,smelly cruisers with captain idiot at the wheel, ah,! but those Wherry's and sailboats!

It amazes me when people come and visit the wonderful, tranquil beauty of the Norfolk Broads, that they choose to rush around in horrible fibreglass hulks, when for a little more money and effort they can sail quietly from pub to pub!

I am a match angler .....not an anti-Christ!!!]

Wonderful pictures of the 'river' Peter.

'- this sleek, sinuous, full bodied animal, chasing and chuckling, gripping things with a gurgle and leaving them with a laugh....'

And a picture from my playground....

A fenland mere Peter, no Bitterns, though they are creeping back, -heard my first one last year- it's alive at this time of year though with the 'thrumming' of the Snipe. Home as well to the magnificent Marsh Harrier.

Peter Waller:

Bender mate, in deference to the true spirit of Venables and Walton, I turn it off when actually angling!

I'm sure Terry and Ray appreciate the gesture, mate.

So, you just use those sophisticated electronics to FIND the fish for you. eh? How very wicker creel and battered trilby of you, Peter.

I caught three nice pike this morning with just my olde marker rodde to find me a feature. Mind you, bite alarms were involved so I'm almost as non-traditional as you, mate.

Dashed chilly, though. Fair froze my knees to my breeks it did. :D

And on the eighth day God created carp fishing...and he saw that it was pukka.
