What Fish Is It?

I was fishing in TUNNEL BARN FARM, SHREWLY when a guy came around and asked if i had caught any submarines. I thought he was joking at first, thinking of the submarine submarine, then realised he was serious, i just said no as i thougt i would look stupid if i said 'whats a submarine'.

Anythoughts on the submarines?

Chub, maybe it's this guy's euphemism for fish in general.

I dont think it is barbel as he asked about submarines then said 'have u caught any of th barbel' which my reply was yes.

Its strange how in different regions people call fish by different nick names. EG bream get called Slabs Snoties, Slimers etc. As for sunbarines. Maybe pike could be called that. Their stealthy and deadly.

I think it might be bream as they are black and cool and it is not pike as thy dont stock them. He had a look at my keep net and i had f1, f2 and common carp in there so its not carp.

I think he probably just means 'big fish'. The type that just goes and takes a lot of stopping.

This is a bit of a stupid quesion but i need to know, what is the strongest elastic u can put in a pole. and has anyone fished shrewly lakes fishery.
