probably not but its been 45 years :D

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

My least favourite English teacher was a guy called Mr Stearn...how very onomatopoeic!

 

The best of the lot was a Welshman Mr D O 'Ossie' Griffiths who instilled in me a love of books after years of rebellion. In his case it wasn't a love of books in the seat of my trousers, either!

 

Rather more on topic, I'm certain the villains of the piece are those who set the parameters within which the traders have to work. Frankly, what people earn is irrelevant if they are earning whilst working within the guidelines their bosses lay down.

And this government set up the fsa, just wondering what they was upto while rome was burning. Just remembering browns boom and bust speach, that obviously didn't work.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Hmm. If my memory serves me correctly the The Securities and Investments Board Ltd

was set up in 1985 by the Thatcher Government. The SIB changed it's name to the FSA in 1997. American Banks got themselves into deep doo-doo too and they are regulated by the Federal Reserve System, an outfit with much bigger teeth than the FSA. UK investment banks are (or were when I worked in the industry) a lot more fearful of the FED than they were of the FSA.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

And now the LibDems want to charge a 'mansion tax' on the value of any house worth over £2M.

Last time around, Labour was calling for a 'wealth tax'.

all that will hapen is the rich will either refuse to pay tax (easily do-able when you have the wealth to get around it) or simply as my old boss did bugger off elsewhere and pay far less as a resident of monaco or another low income tax country.

he can pop over here and reap any benefits then bugger off back to the sun.

do i envy my boss probably not, his punishment is its almost france :D

he buggered of because our tax people froze his assets for two years (he survived on his good name in his profession) then released them without a word of apology or reason for doing it .He sold up and now pays none to the gov as more will do as soon as they feel threatened.

historically the poor pay the most tax ,nothing will change nor will victimising those that employ them

Barry mentioned Brown's 'not returning to the boom and bust economy' speech - It was just so much hot air, disguising a massive redistribution of wealth and masquerading behind 'prudence'. Prudence seems to have taken a very long holiday...

 

This is ironic as many political and economic commentators at the time pointed out that his policy was built upon the accumulation of personal debt as opposed to public debt or even God forbid, balancing the economy whilst allowing Government borrowing for public projects to explode. This was fine as long as the means to suport it remained intact. Brown's policies didn't factor in the mis-selling of mortgages in the US and the eagerness of British banks to buy them.

 

Michael Heseltine got it right..." 'Post-modern, neo-classical endogenous growth theory' - that's not Brown's, that's Balls!"
