Should I???

Kappa

Recommended Posts

I've never fished the old close season before because I didn't really feel it was right. However this season I'm thinking of giving some carp and tench a go. This is a little hypocritical of me as I've campaigned for the keeping of the close season before, however I really need cheering up at the mo.

So should I do it??????

No.... Go and get yourself a fly rod and start to discover the real beauty that is Spring trouting....Or get a motorbike!!!

I'd say go for it. Then decide afterwards if it makes any difference. If you think it does simply don't go next year.

I've got very good friends who've always insisted on observing the closed season. Yet they've gone to Scotland and Ireland most springtimes. Of course, that's different they say.,.....

I agree with Steve here and disagree with Chris. The spring can be a wonderfull time to tench fish, and then just before they get too spawny the river season opens on June 16 and its time to have a crack at an early barbel or a nice stripey.

I used to think that I would miss June 16 but now I find the excitment just the same. I now realise just how much good still water fishing I have missed in the past, and I have never been fond of catching fish heavy in spawn.

However the down side is that I hardly ever go trout fishing anymore as Alan Roe suggests, I suppose when it comes to the crunch I prefer coarse fishing.

Alan.

go-on do-it, get on the still waters can be some of the best fishing of the year, the fish dont have any calenders, when there ready for sex you,ll not catch them anyway, then get on the rivers on the 16th the magic will still be there,

go-on enjoy.
