Yep, like that one. I use it whenever I get a big 'un (not much then) People may sigh and shake their heads but it makes me chuckle.

A favourite of mine is "swimmimg the stream".

 

That's one I haven't heard for fifty years. Its from the era of Edward Ensom, Arthur Sharp, and Jim Bazley. Fits right in with the split-bamboo and quill float ethos.

 

One of my favourites is "idle-back" that's a ready-camouflaged rod rest you cut from a bush or fallen branch.

Much cheaper than rod pods, buzzer bars and all that jazz

..mending line

I like all those because they actually describe what your doing in a couple of words It's harder to think of of terms you like than dislike.

How about: "Of course you can go fishing dear, have a nice day. I'll cut the grass while you're out, and the dinner will be on the table when you get back"
