i've actually had a play with it (or another one of them) last year at thr reditch antiquey tackle fair ,the trader was a very nice chap (gave me £150 for my Fred crouch ruby aerial) and let me photograph the brass reel .only had my phone so pictures not brilliant .He told me it/they was a copy of a early allcocks aerial (1915-1920's) .if it was in alloy i would of brought it that day (as i'd sold a few excess centrepins that day)

it was well engineered ,nice and smooth but too heavy too hold for any length of time .definatly a collectors piece ,for someone prepared too keep polishing it .

if theres a collector reading this ,its a quality reel ,perfect for display .

It's a promotional piece not intended to be used, much like these

If it's #1 perhaps there are others made in alloy, never heard of the name though.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

Well having just watched the clip I simply don't understand! Now I understand collecting reels! I understand that the prototype of a particular model would be very collectible, even a promotional piece. But I do struggle with the concept of making a reel just to be collected! But then my "Anniversary" ABU's and the gold plated ones possibly fall into that category.................but they are usable! To make some thing that's not usable kind of doesn't sit right with me.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Don't think of it as a fishing reel, it's the pictures on the wall, the champagne flutes in the glass cabinet which never get used or any other ornament you have in your house.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back
