Why mess with our childhood memories?

I was in the shop getting some lunch and thought I fancy a bar of chocolate and picked up a Ripple and had a flash back to them being in blue wrappers. To make things worse the ripples were next to the Marathons who have had there proud name replaced by some smelly gym shoe type thing.

 

I bought the ripple but still felt a little annoyed and then started to think about other sweets. Why did they have to change Opal Fruits to Starbursts. Stop it, leave our childhood memories alone you evil B's

 

Marathons & Blue Ripples. These are part of our proud heritage, stop messing with it

 

I guess the young whipper snappers will have no idea what I am on about.

my thoughts are the same on golden wonder cheese n onion. i hate when they change recipes with the cheese n onion i think they replaced it completely with some sort of chive n onion or something

And the ultimate... Wagon Wheels used to be massive but not anymore look more the size of an old Jaffa cake so it aint just the names they change ,or maybe it`s just when i was little the wagon wheels seemed big to me?? .

There's an old-fashioned sweet shop near me, which we sometimes pop into. Wham bars were on the menu last time for me.

No I'm sure they were bigger before, they are so small these days that if you are one of them deviant biscuit dippers you can now fit them in your brew

This is a nice compilation of memories, i was trying recently to remember my favourite drink as a kid and it makes a brief appearance here , quattro , also treets ( chocolate covered peanuts) i think there called reeses pieces now

when in folkestone we rot teeth after visiting the sweety shop that stocks th old favourites but are they ? are they cleaned up versions of old sweets after all Army and Navy sweets used to contain "Paragoric " then went onto taste like paragoric but now the new jars say original but have licorice as the taste

how can something be original but not contain the same ingredients how can something be original at all in this day and age ,was it shifted by huge 40 ton lorries in 1908 or whenever do the ingredients have dandruff and horsehair etc like the stuff did when its was original ? were werthers "original" in foil bags when they were first made? even the bloody name isn't original

I remember that! Fry's "Five Centres" it was called. Quite different to Fry's Chocolate Cream, which is the stuff they still sell today.

 

The five flavours were strawberry, lime, orange, pineapple and coffee. Wikipedia says raspberry instead of coffee, but they may have varied the centres for different markets - I'm sure I remember coffee.

theres a mini version of jubblys out today bit with the originals you could suck what may have been "juice" out before the whole lot melted leaving a palid frozen lump behind ,last one enjoyed outside Spanish City, Whitley bay in 1974 whether it was the original version i have no idea it was similar to the 60's ones to me

everlasting strip was a saturday morning favourite to me a long thin bit of soft toffee in a packet ,wel soft in the summer ,like curley worly without the artistic parts
