A must see

Angler's Mail page 12. Good 17lb 12oz, R. Seven, Zander pic & report....Just to tease you all.

The more I read on fishing the Fens, the more interesting it gets. It appears to me that so many people travel around for that great day & it is all there in the Fens drains, as natural as it can be. So I am getting very exited ready for my first Fenland adventure.

Now two keepnets or three???Ummmm

Ground bait ordered.

New terminal tackle sorted.

Dead baits sorted, am trying whole sardines at first, as size of small roach.

Fishing is the most peaceful & solitary group activity a going. Every watewr is different every day, thanks for that as same would be boring....

A good bet for the pike Mark, but if you want the zander I would definitely stick with fresh coarse baits.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

I think Anderoo is right but might be worth bringing some eel or Lamprey in case its hard to catch bait sized fish. But I would have thought that sea baits would be fine for any one after the Pike.

Latest and probably last news report before next weekend

Middle Level on Form

Written by Darren Reed

Sunday, 04 September 2011 14:22

Middle level again continues to show good form at the bottom end of the level between St Germans and Neepes, Ten mile has started to show some fish in some of the old favoured hot spots.

St Germans through to Neepes has again been very popular during the last seven days, bream skimmers, roach, rudd and perch all showing well in the majority of the nets reported. tip anglers finding good quality catches with nets to 50 lb again reported this week, pole anglers also finding good mixed bags on the 9-14.5 meter line, plenty of ground bait is required to hold the fish when mixed slightly dry this produces a cloud giving the fish confidence to feed, maggot worm pinkie all finding the fish, hemp and tares also starting to produce quality nets of roach, Morton's-Pingles slightly less anglers at the top end but still good sport to be had. Tench showing more at this end, supported by skimmers and roach. Nets to near 40lb have been reported at this end.

Could all anglers be aware that nets have been spotted at various locations on the level if any angler spots any ropes or polystyrene floats please contact the EA or the KLAA Hotline.

Sounding good still.Unfortunately though its looking that I might not be able to make it as I'm still having difficulty walking.

Will it cause a problem if I cant give a definite yes or no till the last minute? If so I will have to err on the side of caution and say no.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Hi budgie

I have never said i will go to marks fens get together only if numbers look like being low I would try my best.

Social events are not really me.

But if you want to go and need someone to help in what ever way is needed I will do that for you. Its not an offer out of kindness or pity or all those stupid things its just someone wanting to be a mate if you need one.

regards

John

ps fished the ocean pit again this weekend for bream and had another 7 good fish over 2 nights and lots of skimmers daytime on saturday until it got too bright.

I really like being out over night and hearing all those spooky sounds :D:D

There is no need to confirm you are coming. This is an open event, to reduce the pressure on people & make it more relaxed. There are a provisional 50 pegs reserved, (ok, I am hoping for a good turnout). So if you cant get there, just get yourself well & we will see you at next one, 10th / 11th March 2012. Still in the fens at a well naturally stocked drain, that I am already sorting as maybe a season emding event will attract more anglers & fish will be feeding up for breeding. No zeds at this one but plenty of coarse fish.

John

Your ps above is right regards the light. Next weekend is supposed to be cloudy with 30% chance of rain. It should have the fish feeding well all day.

Sorry to all but due to sponsor's hospitalisation, the cups will not be ready for this event. But I will have them for next event. There will be a cup for top weight in the 24hrs & a trophy for best fish in same period. Both with name plaques to be held til the following event.

7 days & we will be saying 'bye' about now....

Well hello to all readers of marks thread about a good social get together.

I have just read through all 10 pages of posts looking for mention of a sponser who might be ill or in hospital and have not found any mention. Who could that be?.

I have also read many posts expressing interest and then difficulty in participating.

Mark has stated several times that booking is not important and I agree leaving spontinaety to arrive if you wish is a good thing but I do think at this late stage even I am planning what the next weekend is going to be.

I am never sure until friday a.m. where I will be for the whole weekend but I start making plans now. I am sure many others are aswell.

I think we owe it to Mark to start saying if we can attend or not. He may well not thank me for this but you can ignore me due to my illiterate and abnovios approach sometimes so blame me not him.

Mark has gone out of his way as a newcomer to AN to have a get together in a very good venue with good parking good fishing and hopefully good company.

The forum got a bit too intense at one point recently so lets relax and get back to fishing. I have a new phone that allows me to check in on websites whilst away and its amazing how many can post all weekend. When do they go fishing?.

Lets vote for mark in the best way we can and attend and get fishing this weekend together.

regards

John
