Oh dear. The person that " bought it " has sent me a message to inform me that it was his " son " who bid on the reel. He cannot pay for the item because he has no money in paypal. The " dad " said he flatly refuses to pay. What can i do to rectify this. Is he legally bound to pay.

He has offerd me a fiver for my troubles

You cannot force him to pay so the best option at this point is to get the listing ended in such a way that you get your selling fees refunded and can list it again.

 

Tell him that you will be opening a non-payment case 4 days after the sale so you can get your fees back and will close it after another 4 days. Also tell him he does not have to do anything. You will take care of it all.

 

When you open the dispute, he will have the option to pay or else you close the dispute in another 4 days which gets your fees back, gets him a non-payer strike, and blocks him from leaving you feedback. Its not unknown for these idiots to lie as he probably did and to then give you problems.

 

You should also add him to your blocked bidder list so he can't have another accident.

 

You wil also have the option to request the sale be canceled but if you go that way, he can refuse which means no fee refund for you and he can leave feedback. Don't go for the cancellation unless you trust this person.

Andrew, you can also send a second chance offer to the under-bidder at the highest price they bid. (£72) and so on down the line if they don't want it.

I've personally seen this several times on ebay and of course Newt is quite right! The OWNER of the account is personally responsible for ANY bids placed on anything etc. As he is the one with the account info and so has to be the responsible person. It is however worth telling ebay about the problem as they will (if old accounts are anything to go by) SNLR (Services No Longer Required) the owner of the account.

Bloody well annoying predicament, grrrrrrrr :angry::angry:

 

I've been reading the rules of e bay and it would appear that he has broken some ruling about people bidding on his account, e bay have the right to close his account.

 

I cannot get in touch with them until he replies to my request to cancel the transaction. ! I will, when he replies, contact them and inform them of the senanigans.

i have a non payer resolution dooda going on ,chap in Thailand obviously didn't like the postage charge he was going to have to pay despite our hardest keeping it under 2kg when packed :rolleyes:

the decent buyers ask before the item ends

 

if you cancel his bid you may not get your listing fees back so use the "resolve a problem" thing and let ebay deal with it ,it takes a few days until you can use it though

Andrew, JUST reported someone for this same thing (They said I was RUDE and OBNOXIOUS and refused to sell refunded the money and said that was it!??) almost!!

 

Go to Help (Top right)then type in "report a member" in search box. then click "Types of Violation we'll investigate" This then shows a page with various violation things and look for the one which most agrees with your reflections! And REPORT THE B*****D.

Atlast he has agreed to cancel, my fees deducted were repaid by e bay. I have reported himto e bay.

 

HOWEVER, could this be the cause for him to want not to pay.

He was bidding on another reel, which finished 3 days before my auction, I wonder if he thought he would be outbid on my auction.?? Either way he's been reported .
