Some 'plods' are very keen anglers, and thus pretty good people! Bit of a culture shock to some of us, perhaps, but making friends with angling plods has its advantages. Most have mobiles and, whether on or off duty, are very quick to come to the aid of their beloved sport. So, make friends, forget the time you were clocked for speeding, and carry their mobile numbers. My local beat bobby was very keen to give me her number!!

Gaffer:

From early reports it would appear that six asylum seekers visited my local water and were seen to release gas from a gas cylinder into the water via a hose. Hundreds of fish have surfaced (dead) and there are visible signs of a de-scaling procedure in certain swims.

:(

This is a terrible attack on your fishery and the criminals who perpetrated it should be brought to account.

However if the criminals were not apprehended how can you be so sure about their immigration status.

It really saddens me to read some of the comments on this and other threads where all kinds of ills and crimes are assumed to have "asylum seekers " responsible.

What has happened to the British sense of justice and fairplay.

I appeal to those who have jumped on the gutter press band wagon to have a look at German press reports of the 1930's and reflect on what is happening.

We all know of a mate's, brother's, mother in law's, cousin's, brother, who had some trouble with some minority group or other!!!

Let's get our facts right before we embark on such intemperate rhetoric.

Asylum seekers or not, invading a private fishery and killing a great deal of fish for your own gains is a disgusting act. Home grown poachers should be dealt with severly; asylum seekers should be deported if they can't behave.

For a first post, its straight to the point and I agree with it 110%! :)

Thanks Apache, I apologise for not doing a typical first post and introducing myself, but I read this topic and felt compelled to put my point across. Frankly it was a barbaric thing to happen, and I strongly disagree with people who start feeling sorry for the offenders and side with them.

Anyways, I'd best start typing my introduction post! :D
