Elton,

An extremely pathctic story. I suspect the £ amount was more related to quantity rather than quality as he was/is a youth coach. Wonder why it took so long to appear in the press? Equally, I wonder why a "listing" was not included in the report. Not many places to dispose of "specialist" fishing equipment without someone catching on is there?

These wouldn't be the first recruits of Mr Tom Brake's "Rioters Reborn as Anglers" scheme, would they ?

What the hell are you lot suggesting?? I am actually the coach in the article and I did lose the tackle as reported!

I was not insured so if you are suggesting that it is an insurance job then there will be some law suits brought against all of you! I am disgusted by the attitude of anglers on here, I lost over 150 whips, 100 sets of rods and reels, nets, seat boxes, terminal tackle and hundreds more bits and pieces ON TOP OF THAT i lost all of my own tackle, all top quality tackle including Carp, Pike and general tackle. I am a full time fishery manager and have been for many years, I am also a level 2 angling coach registered with the ADB (www.cjanglingacademy.co.uk) and reguarly coach many kids on many different courses IM NOT A FRAUDSTER!!!!!!!!! How dare people criticse me on an open forum! I didnt even put it in the paper in the first place, they contacted me I didnt want any sympothy from anyone! As it happens the article went in the paper 2 days after the event (last wednesday). The gear was in a security container with 2 locks I paid £75 each for, unfortunately these cockroaches were determined and used and angle grinder to break in, they also dragged everything including strimmers, outboard motor, mowers, tools and even my kids bikes over 100 yards, these were very organised scumbags

I have been offered replacement tackle for free by many very kind hearted local people and I have turned it down, I did it to warn other anglers and fishery about these scum bags!!!!

I am VERY upset about these comments and will be taking it further, Elton do something about these disgusting people.

twochay,

I guess you'll be watching this thread, I'm sure the loss is of considerable importance. Perhaps you are "venting" against the wrong people?? Did you notice where I was from? I am the anglers you refer to in your post(?). I wouldn't know you from a "red ice wagon"!

Let me break down the comments you choose to be critical of.

"Pathetic" (meaning that anyone would resort to becoming a thief - especially from a fellow angler)

"Quantity vs quality" I hate it you lost anything. However, I have a single rod that cost $3000.00. Since the article identified you as a "youth coach" I assumed (as you so indicate) you lost a considerable volume of assorted equipment. That's often even harder to replace and I'm sorry for that circumstance also.

The third sentence, a question, still baffles me? Usually stolen property is disposed of in the first 24 hours. Why so long to be reported in the press?

Why didn't the "angling world" know the "content list" of what to watch for. Since the "equipment"why didn't you post on here when it would have been meaningful?

In fact, why haven't you done so yet?

Lastly, YOUR post warrants a PUBLIC CRITIC, at least as far as I can see. It has or had nothing to to with your "acomplishments" of the past. I was sorry for your loss.

What the hell are you lot suggesting?.

Well, I can't speak for the others, but I will tell you what I was suggesting.

People steal tackle for one of two reasons - to sell on, or possibly to use themselves.

Mr Brake MP (Lib) wants to "prevent" people from being the hooligans, rioters, looters, and arsonists featured a couple of weeks back, by encouraging them to take up angling. Being something of a cynic, I believe that if any of these people DID take up angling they would bring their present criminal values into the sport - like stealing tackle rather than buying it - or possibly buying it ultra-cheap, knowing full well it must be "hot"

So someone might have sensed (or imagined) a ready market for "beginners" tackle, looked for where they might steal some and unfortunately you were the victim.

Nothing more, nothing less

I realise you are pretty upset about the loss and want to lash out at SOMEONE, but the only useful way forward would be to provide a detailed list of what was stolen, so that the members of this forum might keep an eye open for them.
