Cory, I do all of those things but I take the view that the timing is forced upon me by religious (Christian) conventions.

Left with a finite amount of time off work to dispose of as I see fit, I certainly wouldn't be off work in the middle of winter.

I don't see that it is hypocritical. If there is anything hypocritical it is Christians who put up a Christmas tree when there scripture explicitly forbid them to. From King James Version

When I was a believer I thought the origin of exchanging gifts came from that too. Until I heard of other mid winter festivals like the Roman Saturnalia when they exchanged gifts, and Yule, a Pagan mid-winter festival of feasting and merriment.

That has to be the most outrageous reply i have ever read, what a terrible thing to say. I find it hard to think you could even think of something like that, in a word GENOCIDE, and you believe in it.
