i have a question for budgie and catman 195 have you ever met me or do you know me you see i am a little lost as to if we have met i only judge people that i know not somebody in another country seems a little strange i feel a little anomosety between you against me but hay whatever.

well chaps you have been busy little bees havent you i see you have a play around with each other to answers what you already or probaly knew but i would have been glad to answer you without somebody doing some blatant advertising i cant stand that it irritates me to.i think i should come and have a beer with you budgie sometime you see we have never met i would love to meet you you have been around for a long time and i have said in the past i have a lot of respect for you even as we have never met glad to see this debate has brought to light what people can be like most or all of the time SO has anybody got any more questions. fire away oh by the way i am so sorry gents but as you well know i am so busy but i promise to get back to you as sooon as i can. but to answer kois questions yes they can swim backwards but not as fast as they can forward due to the upper body strenght of these fish most of the thrust as to say comes from the upper section but if they get a hold of a snag they will grip on with might.oh lads here is one for you how do you tell the diffrence between males and females when they are not in spawn i do know the answer. i recently passed information onto dr bruno broughton about catfish and he was very supprised as to how much i actualy do know. so lets keep this topic for the actual fish not which river just how to catch them sorry if you thought i knew every-where in the world lads i dont.

bye...

Cheers Newt.Have discussed this while fishing with Hoppy.Another of our guides,Ryan, lives in Germany as well (he is ex US forces to)He has had good fish up to treble figures from his local river.Just interested in what others have to say.Despite the Germans love of catfish they dont do a great deal of fishing for them in their own country! despite there being some good fish there.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Gary you seem to think that myself and Catman have a problem with you. You have done this before and I thought all had been made clear. As I dont know Catman I can not speak for him but I certainly have no problem with you and nothing he has posted here leads me to think he does either.I feel that advertising as the pair of you did is a bit naughty  but you have both redeemed your self by at least contributing to the site with your experiences :) .I too made the mistake of thinking AN would be a free source of advertising.I realised that it was a bit rude to expect it without contributing. :o

As for the questions I posed I have my views on the answers but they are still grey areas so as I am interested in catfish I would also be interested in others views as well.As it is still quite a specialist area I thought I would take advantage of your kind offer.

This isnt some "Battle of the Guides" quiz show, just (hopefully) some like minded people sharing their experiences.Remember that as well as the few who contribute by actually posting there will be many others who just look in hoping to learn somthing. There is no need for any one up man ship or points scoring. On a proffesional level there is no need to try and compete for clients either,as I am sure both you and Catman are in the same position as myself. We are very lucky that the demand for our services is far in excess off what we can supply.Be much nicer if we could all get along and share info and clients. In fact only recently I sugested you and your services to a couple of people who tried to book with me.Lets forget the attitude and discuss what myself, hopefully Catman and most certainly what the other members on here want to read.CATFISH FISHING!Hope to hear your views on my questions and hear how you sex cats soon. :)

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Gary

I can also assure you I have no problem with yourself or Budgie as you have pointed out we have never met so it would be impossible for me to form any views on you either as a person or a fisherman

I would be very interested to hear your findings on sexing Catfish out of the spawning season

If you have managed to sex them beyond doubt good luck to you

I have met lots of well respected Catfish anglers and none of them have been able to tell the difference and I have read in more than one article that without killing them and opening them up there is no way to tell

and who cares how you would sex them  this only is a thing the catfish need to know for mixed double boily stealing or for naughty stuff in the light of a full moon :)

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong
