Royal Mail.

Am I the only one to notice how poor a service they are providing this year?

Some of my 1st class standard mail has taken 12 working days to be delivered.

Even Parcelforce seemingly cannot deliver on time.

A recent Parcelforce 48 item sent, to Southampton, took 6 working days to get to the central Hub.

I can only claim 25% of postal costs as compensation.

If this is privatisation then they are deliberately running RM into the ground.

Normally I find the Royal Mail quite good....this year however, the dreaded red cards have been slipping into the post box without so much as a bang on the door.

A knock on the door is not something that would escape the dog's attention believe me!

On saturday I had one such red card, odd, I was in and the dog was alert! When I retrieved it from the box the time was market as 10:25.......blimey, time travel in Herefordshire....I picked it out of the box at 9:55 :o

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

We get them all the time in our village:

"Too big to fit on pushbike"

Pain in the proverbial, especially on a Saturday, when they arrive after the Post Office has shut.

Have been drumming my fingers waiting for the garage to send on the new keeper's supplement from the V5C for the car we just bought. They said they posted it Monday. Just arrived today, first class, postmarked Tuesday evening. Hmm...

not had many issues with them this year! order a fair amount off the internet and via Amazon etc and they usually arrive when i would expect them to.

though i recall when i was a lad the post used to arrive by 8am!! these days we are lucky to see it at 2PM!!

however i must say my aunt is a post-lady...its an interesting insight into the structuring that goes into the mail. Apparently, at least in her area, the posties have to sort their own mail out, then set it all up for their own deliveries and suchlike..hence no early morning.

im guessing its an amalgamation of stupid system being in place, cut backs in sorting and distribution and bloody lazy incompetent staff! i did notice a wide variety of "new" posties in our area for a few months...a few "not of these shores" if you get my drift and a few that seemed to simply be temps.....

my pet hate is i list a "safe place" with each and every parcel company i use...and special instructions are usually written/printed on all my parcels for that safe place..and i STILL get red cards!! even though it says there on the parcel..near my address...plain as day!!!

then...THEN i get the red card...we delivered at 2pm but you werent here..so you can pick it up here...but leave an hour so that the parcel is there ready for you..however this place shuts at 3.45pm..so that leaves you 45 minutes to drive the 10 miles there anyway...even IF you finish work in time which you wont!

grrrrrrr

luckily all my xmas pressies have already arrived!!!

My missus has been known to chase postmen up the road when she's spotted a red card coming (un-preceded by a knock on the door) through the letterbox.

That's the explanation she's given me for chasing postmen, anyway.

I presume that this takes place "every morning true as the clock"? :D
