Solar Power Fountain

My pond has no running water. Its totally still but i would like a fountain or something to get some movement. The problem is that my pond is some distance from the house and i can't afford to have cables running to the pond . Has anybody used solar powered fountains? A single unit would be best.

I once saw plans to rig up a windmill but doubted it would be of much practical use.I would be interested in the solar power also however.

when they construct effeciant solar power cells then they may work , water is very heavy and sticky i suspect it may be an unwise investment

but have you thought of using a 12v supply with a boat bilge pump water is moved very well and the cabling can be put inside a hosepipe and "tucked" under the lawn etc if you cut through it you wont die, the only pain is finding a good enough transformer but not impossible

There are a few models on the market now. Water movement in the pond is either there for aesthetic reasons or as a means of oxygenating/cleaning water. A combination of the two is often the best idea. However most of the solar fountains I have seen fall fair and square into the decorative category. Any major water quality benefits would be doubtful except in the smallest of ponds.

I have been looking at a floating solar power fountain in my local water garden centre. It says on the box you have a choice of 3 heads, water spray up to 45cm tall and moves 100 liters of water per hour. Its £39.99. Hummmmmm....

all advertisements are lies , their "specs" are probably based on "ideal" conditions , sahara sun with a fully charged battery ( it does have a battery ???)on a windless day , a 100 litres an hour? hmm look outside this is britain
