hi, please can you guys help me out and choose a decent reel to pair with my korum cs 10ft feeder, i have a £50 limit. :schmoll:

thanks! tight lines :sun:

I've been looking at the fox stratos 4000e, which is discounted to about £50 at my local shop. Feels smooth and like it's built to last; should be a nice match to your rod. It comes with 2 spare spools, double handle and baitrunner facility.

I haven't seen one, but I'm intrigued by the MAP ACS series of reels, with the new auto line clip. People on various forums are making good noises about these reels, which start at about £40 (I've seen the £80 models as low as £53). No more getting broken when clipping up, which has to be a good thing.

I'd avoid the fox reels, I've heard several horror stories about them. Fox make very good rods but they seem to have got their reels wrong. A quick google found this thread on a barbel forum: http://www.barbel.co.uk/site/vbulletin/for...7000-reels.html

An excellent reel with a fighting drag so can be used almost as a bait runner.

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Ha ha! Are you related to my wife? £58 is nearly 20% over budget from the "limit" of £50.

Here's what you have to do. Attach the reel to the rod. The feel will be very important. Reels between £50 - £60 will be similar execpt for those excluded by AN members. There must be a hundred of them that will be acceptable but - for me - the feel of the reel to rod is important. For example, I have rather small hands. Since I don't own that rod and don't know the location or size of the first ring there is no way to recommend a reel.

A couple of friends use the 7000s and rate them, but haven't had them particularly long.............oops!

If you don't mind buying second-hand, it's worth looking for a 4000/5000 size Shimano baitrunner (not the new front drag version). They're smooth, reliable and just about bulletproof. There are usually a few on Ebay, which go for around £30 to £40, depending on condition.

The shimanos arent all that highly rated by some on here but I really like them and havent had any issues whatsoever using them. Great reels compared to some others in the price band.
