Hook advice

Hi, for the last xx months I have been fishing a crystal clear weedy lake for the carp and have had no joy, that was until recently where I have found a way to catch the sneaky fish, the method was simple, a small hook. The problem I am having is that the hook I need to use is a size 16 and last weekend I lost some good fish due to it straightening out some. So my question is, what is the strongest hook available in size 16? I don't care much for how much they cost, if they were a tenner each so be it, I must get a few of these fish on the bank.

Any recommendations on very strong small hook?

I like the Kamasan animal also but I think the Drennan super spade are stronger, well I know they are. Also the Drennan are a dull colour rather than bright silver like the Animal wich may spook shy fish.

Fridgeman all the hooks mentioned are only about £1 or £1.20p for a pack of ten so not a big expense.

Yeh the Kamasan Animal hooks are very strong(landed 12lb carp on size 20 other week :P), been usin the for past few years and havent had one straightened yet, Its only hooks i use, have 2 each of each size in me box ready. I know lot of other people who swear by them and its all they use aswell.

Ive had no trouble on clear waters with them, i fished clear lake the other week and catchin 1 a chuck on size 14.

For strong small hooks I prefer eyed so I use the Drennan Super Specialist and have never had one straighten or break. But they are barbed though, so you might not be allowed to use them.

They did do a barbless Super Specialist at one time don't know if they still do.

I'm pretty sure they do - purpleish packet?

I'm a recent convert to the Kamasan Animals, a really good hook. The Drennan Super Specialists are good but I have had a couple open on me (very small hooks and very big carp though, so not too surprising). I used to use the Drennans for everything, I find I'm using them less and less these days.

I've been using Kamasan 981 eyed hooks for must be ten years or more now, never had one open up on me,... one or two other makes I have though

I do have some Kamasan Animal in 18, 12, 10, they seem a good hook, but haven't used them much yet, they seem a bit wide for me, still on my 981's

I would recommend Kamasan to anyone

I must be doing something right, I'm still alive
