Scripts Running on AN?

If you use Firefox, you can make the problem go away by installing and using NoScript add-on. It allows you to block any script from running or to allow those you want to allow either on all sites or on specific sites. Not sure if there is a similar product for other browsers or not.

i eventually solved my problem but definitely the wrong way.

doing anything was getting slower and slower and script warnings thick and fast ,i tried "fixing" windows within windows and using the instal disk after trying the useless system repair disk .

eventually windows wouldn't start at all and eventually safe mode refused to start so i bit the bullet and did a reinstall ,it took hours and still everything was running slowly.

i bought a copy of a hard drive monitoring software as the hard drive light was constantly flashing ,looking at the drives one was registering 48 degrees ,i tried accessing it and everthing froze ! i unplugged it and everything jumped into action ,i blew a new PSU the other day and i think it may have been this drive doing it as of course heat is power!

anyway having removed it i bought a hard drive docking bay that has its own power supply and plugged it in ,boing everything slowed to a crawl showing it indeed is this drive ,i have just formatted it as the data was full of errors ,took two hours to do 80 gig!

the strange thing is though just putting it in the dock slows everything down even with no data on it ,i shall do a surface scan but i think its buggered or tae it apart and oil it like i used to with scsi disks :D

what is SMART about even this dodgy disk came back as 100% OK ,isnt it pointless if it doesn't warn you of a bad disk

I've been locked out of AN all morning so I was quite surprised to see that there have been a few posts today.

It started working again some time after two in the afternoon and it appears that adscripts were the culprit.

Anyone else been unable to access the site today ?

No problems today, Ken, but things were a bit slow yesterday - the connection got timed out a few times, which is a first for me on this site.

Browser is Google Chrome and it's generally pretty fast.
