so much for that liar blair and his "open internet access for all"

the 1901 census site is still down and will remain so for indefinate , two years planning and it crashes at the first attemp ,so much for blair and his internet for all , the bloke and his cronies should be dragged into the streets and hung,i blame the government :mad: :mad:

I've also failed to get on there,but I did see on the news on the box a couple of weeks ago that they were expecting it to be running again soon, but were not going to announce when to try and avoid the rush like last time.

From what I remember from the news, they were expecting the site to be of limited interest to people in England, when in fact it was of enormous interest to people worldwide. The server just couldn't cope, and crashed within a very short time.

 

The Public Records Office (I think they're the ones' running the site) are not heavily financed by our beloved Government, so it's a minor miracle that they managed to do it in the first place. I understand that as well as fixing the problems with that site, they are also working on previous censuses (censii?) as well.

 

Let he who has not made a right bog-up of something cast the first stone...
