Who do you reckon will or should win this years Sports personality of the year award?

After todays performance I think it should go to Wonder boot Wilkinson, surely he deserves it. Then again, it is a team game.

Any other suggestions for a worthy winner.

Wilkinson or Paula Radcliffe. Not many other people have done much this year. Wonder if Alan & Linda Scotthorne will merit a mention? Will Dwayne Chambers get an invite?

Scott:

How about a sportsman that actually has a personality for a change.

Scott.

What is your definition of personality? The fact is these days that to get to the top you have to be 100% dedicated to what you do. So if by personality you mean someone who goes out on the town getting drunk, gambling, womanizing (or manizing of course) and generaly living the playboy lifestyle then you simply aren't going to see that any more. Being 1% below par means losing not winning. Just look at the sorry state of the Leeds United players for the evidence!

The only sport I have any real interest in is F1, so i'll use that as an example.

Montoya & Couthard, both winners, both dedicated to their sport, neither are known for the things you described.

One has a personality, the other is nothing more than a PR robot full of political corectness.

Scott.

As far as you are aware? Or do you know them both personally?

I always thought Montoya was too politically correct from what I have seen of him on TV, although I don't know him personally.

Good points.

Not many successful sportspeople have what one would call a personality.

Jonny Wilkinson for one, he's got where he is by solitary practise. OK, he trains with his club team and country team, but normally spends hour upon hour on his own kicking a ball between the sticks- hardly condusive to a sparkling personality is it?

I just hope David "Bloody" Beckham doesn't win it.

Hiya Townlad. I, too, hope David Beckham doesn't win it. In my eyes he has the sex-appeal and personality of a two toed sloth.

As for Jonny? Spring Onions and I find his concentration and skill irresistible. We reckon there's an untapped "Phwaaarrr" factor there! :P:D

Help me unhook these, please.
