Where did I mention Scunthorpe?? Who am I picking on??

In general my post was meant to be a positive and yes I know there are anglers who do not give a cuss but in my area they are at a minimum.

Never mind, perhaps you didn't get your leg over last night and are somewhat disgruntled or perhaps you only enjoy picking fault with fellow forum members posts. I do urge you to read my post again and try to find any reference to Scunthorpe.

Whatever your motive for the reply to my post I can honestly say, I DON'T GIVE A TINKERS CUSS.

Whoa there, wind your head in. Do you remember writing this? " the ar**h*les from destinations East", Where do you live? What's in an Easterly direction from you? It was a little attempt at humour, The little smiley is usually a dead give away to those who think before replying.

As to my motive for posting, it was just to provide a personal opinion, the fact that it differed from yours seems to have upset you. Unlike you, I do give a "TINKERS CUSS" about other peoples opinions.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Gozzer the post was a good one. What holes do you speak of ? I think you're being a little unreasonable here mate.

For crying out loud Andy, I mentioned holes in a landing net, he mentioned a***oles. A play on words!

I'm from near King's Lynn...those fish had better watch out ;)

The biggest threat to angling in general is in my opinion (and what Barry was clearly getting at) an animal welfare/cruelty for the sake of it one. Overstocked, artificial waters with disfigured fish, which exist solely to be caught, returned, caught again, etc. To pretty much everyone in the UK - if they knew about it and were encouraged to care - this is cruel and unneccessary. The rest of angling would then be bundled in with it.

All it takes is an organisation with an agenda and some backing to do something about it. We wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Superb....one of my favourite varieties of thread, where the anglers do more to make the arguments against it than anyone else.

Talk about cutting out own throats. If it is possible to ban fishing, we'll do it ourselves, without anyone else's help. Brilliant lads, just brilliant.

Oh come on Andy, how many times have you complained about the behaviour of other anglers on here, litter, lighting fires, bad handling, and a general disregard for their surroundings and the fish. Not to mention wanting to kill every predator that feeds on fish.

If there are problems then the only way to sort them out is to be open, and discuss them. It's no use pretending that everything is rosey, and all anglers are 'guardians of the waterside'. Everything that's mentioned on here is freely available on the internet if any antis care to look, and those I've met certainly do look.

Oh dear I've opened a can of worms here haven't I

:whistling:

As famous fisherman John Gierach once said "I used to like fishing because I thought it had some larger significance. Now I like fishing because it's the one thing I can think of that probably doesn't."
