Broadband Suggestions

Elton

Recommended Posts

My village now has broadband

I have to have my ISDN line converted, and was about to sign up with BT. However, I notice that they have a 1 gig per month transfer limit. Whilst that sounds a lot, it wouldn't be enough for me to move Anglers' net and all my other sites, if I needed to.

Anyone suggest any others?

Cheers,

Elton

PS Cable is out of the question.

Normally, a gig would probably be fine. It's just when I need to do something out of the ordinary that I would need more, and that's when you really don't need any extra hassle :D

I'm on BT Broadband - the 1 Gig thing is a guideline not a hard limit, and according to the helpdesk averaged over a month anyhow.

I've occasionally d/loaded over 3 Gig in a day on mine without complaint from BT.

The also did my ISDN to broadband conversion for free ;-)

I saw a Broadband provider advertised very recently that offers up to 2Gb and I am sure it was cheaper than BT. If I can find who it is, I'll post it here later.

Haven't yet, Jim.

I've got to be a bit 'careful'. I use the same dial up from two locations - home, and my unit (about two miles away). I want to find a way of ditching current system and getting broadband at home first.

Current system costs me £20 per month for ISP and then £20 per month per location for BT Surftime.

I figure I need a decent broadband connection at home and somewhere where I can just get ISDN connection at a reasonable rate at work during the day. I don't do much online work from my unit, but need to download orders (at this time of year, I could probably do that on a piece of string and two bean cans - it's very quiet :( ).

Will let you know when I place an order.
