I just wonder why goldfish as opposed to any other fish.

I have used them by the way, they were deadly on one water we used to fish.

John.

Would you please stop it, you are upsetting the children.

Got farsands of them in me pond, anyone wants some free bait, bring a net. B)

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Once upon a time, I used to kill every eel that took my bait and I wasn't alone. Eels used to be right up there with midges, regarded as nothing more than an absolute nuisance. Now I find them quite fascinating, even if they are completely daft.
I used to do that too, and through pike up the bank. I was only little, I'd would have got hell if I did otherwise.

That's not a very logical argument. There are lots of baits on can buy in a shop.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

So, some things that used to happen in angling (in living memory, even for us younger ones) that we don't do any more include:

- Use of gaffs

- Throwing zander up the bank

- Double hook rigs

- Killing and stuffing specimen fish

- Cutting the legs off herons(?!)

- Killing otters

- Knotted mesh landing nets

- Lots of fish crammed into old knotted keep nets

- Waiting for a pike to run, stop to turn the bait, and make its second run befroe striking

- Fixed lead rigs

- Lead shot

- Salmon tailers

- Gorge tackle for pike

- Pike Gags

- Weighing more than one fish at a time, especially in a wire basket

- Pike in knotted keep nets

- Keepnets full of barbel

- Eels on baited mouse traps(!)

- Spring balance stright into the gills

- Gold fish as live baits

- Killing eels

Far from an exhaustive list.

Is it therefore unreasonable to think that some things we do now will either fade away over time as sensibilities change, or will become illegal?

In response to the livebaiting topics and the 'we should defend everything we do at all costs or we will lose all of angling' arguments in particular.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

That is indeed food for thought Anderoo, I remember the first time another Angler pointed out to me that I should use an unhooking Mat for pike; I was embarrassed and went a bought one the next day. I had not even heard of an unhooking Mat at the time.

On the other hand live baiting has never embarrassed me.
