Activist 'shocked' at conviction for yelling at David Cameron

A woman has described her shock after being found guilty of a public order offence for telling David Cameron he had "blood on his hands".

Bethan Tichborne, 28, said initially she assumed her court summons was a bureaucratic error after she was arrested for protesting against cuts to disability benefits. But she was told by a district judge that her comments must have hugely insulted the prime minister.

Barry's point is valid. Not only is the terrorist permitted to say what he jolly well likes, but despite the fact that he does overstep the boundaries there doesn't seem to be any sensible way of deal

Do we have district judges (sounds american) we have magistrates for petty stuff and judges for stuff more important ,if its a offence carried out on the street it tends to be up to the feds if an offence is done and magistrates rarely disregard their opinion, she obviously didn't think the 80 quid on the spot fine was reasonable at the time

You could stand in the street with a placard saying how great cameron is and get arrested its not hard to getarrested any more its income!

got nicked by cameras twice last week, one for having two wheels in a box junction for mili seconds while negotiating across London for two and a half hours. the second was in a loading bay while purchasing something I needed pdq in a shop, while working. total amount if I don't contest them 140 quid.

Well, the conviction cannot possibly be sound. Nick, 'QC' has categorically stated "The European Convention on Human Rights IS BRITISH LAW.

 

It is not possible to use one without the other, they are one and the same."

 

As this must be true the poor woman has been done out of her "Human Rights". Article 10 provides the right to freedom of expression.

If the cops say she put the odd "F" word in then she has no leg to stand on ,in most cases its your word against a copper and they tend to be believed unfortunately

Trouble with laws is the government has lots of lawyers to challenge what you say while you have none unless your rich..

I occasionally used to sit in the local court dinnertimes and believe me these lawyer types can twist anything you say ,they could convince magistrates (who are not trained lawyers just "good" people of society whatever that is) god is the devil if they wished.

When it comes down to one word against another the other tends to be believed if you have no proof of innocence, if he happens to be a policeman they are rarely disbelieved

Now ofcourse power has been divolved to pretty much anyone ,a council roadsweeper has more power than youn,if they say you dropped some ash they will be believed
