Why do members of the Public think they have the right to put their rubbish - mainly half full paint pots in someone elses (who is paying for the thing and had to get a council permit) skip (someone else being me)?

Would they come and put their rubbish bags on my front lawn or walk into my kitchen to use the bin?

I think not so why do it?

Anyone know if they are breaking any laws if I catch the culprits?

Reminds me of the old One Foot In The Grave sketch, where he mentions that someone always dumps an old mattress in your skip. When he wakes up, someone's dumped a Reliant Robin in his.

We get that a lot with our work skip, we caught one guy who put loads of bags of fiberglass in it which isn't allowed to go to landfill so we made him get it out. The company next door had a massive skip and came in one day to find he had put a fiberglass boat hull in there!!

Unfortunately I doubt you would get very far with trying to prosecute, I would just follow them home and then return their items in the middle of the night

Just noticed some inconsiderate person has stolen one of the automatic safety lights!

Your lucky if it was just the light stolen, we've had an entire skip stolen odd thing was it was full of crushed concrete & must have weighed about 10 tons
